What is a good place to get some basic training on these programs, especially Final Cut Pro???

Did anyone use a certain site or book?

I'm lost as to wtf I am doing, but I'd like to get familiar with them.

Final cut pro is a video editing tool, so I would suggest to learn video/film editing first (there are probably courses available somewhere in your vicinity). If you know editing a lot of the function of the software will be logical and you'll learn how to use the program in no time.

I use iMovie, but Final Cut is 1000x more complicated obv. I guess I should bite the bullet and take a course.

It's more complicated because it's a more professional product that is actually used by professionals.

A course on editing (or any of the better editing programs) will give the basic knowledge to understand the logic/workflow of the program, after that you'll have no problem figuring out the more advanced features.

FCP is very tough to learn from scratch if you don't have any video editing experience. Go to lynda.com and look for a hands-on training book for it. They talk you through the program in a pretty easy way.
