What pick do they have in the draft and who do you think they'll use it on?
Thomas would be a great pick up for them or anybody for that matter.
According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, free agent Nate Clements has been signed or will soon sign with the San Francisco 49ers. The report comes from Thomas Sorrell, a writer for RealFootball365.
Email from Geoff Hobson:
Clements is gone to san fran for $23 M to sign - a deal the Bengals could have done if they cut the few guys who do play defense.

and ESPN is saying Adalius Thomas is also on his way to SF

I could see them getting Thomas. The ravens cap situation is not good thus putting them out of the race for thomas.
If SF really are able to get a DB & LB then I could see them going for a WR in the draft. Even though they could even more sure up the DEF with a DE.
its not 100% official yet..... but even espn insider is saying that we are close to signing clements..... so if this happens and then we sign adalius thomas then we make some moves to move up in the draft and get calvin johnson we are looking good..... possibly get brandon meriweather in the 2nd and playoffs here we come
I just heard on NFL Network that the Pats are close to signing Thomas, so I dont think thats happening
yea, I would be too. Put him next to Spencer and that will be a great secondary. Harris can still contrbute but is getting really old. I really like Spencer though
i hope we move up somehow..... and get CJ then get Meriweather in the 2nd and its a wrap....... if we dont move up then get Carriker with the 11th
Adalius Thomas is in Santa Clara as we speak and there is an offer on the table, an offer that the Pats cannot match.
The rumor is that what it will come down to is 1) Money-he signs with SF 2) Playing for a team with a legit shot at a Super Bowl right now-he signs with the Pats
You won't ever get Calvin, so just get that out of your mind. Maybe Meriweather but probably not.
If Calvin drops to #4, Bucs will draft him no matter what.
Karriker is a beast, 6-6 290 pounds and a 4.81 40. He would be a great fit in your 3-4, as he could be moved all over the line. Im not sold on Merriweather, I think if they could move up in the second, they might have a slim chance at Paul Poslunzy from Penn St., I think he would also be a great fit at outside lb with Lawson on the other side
I hope the Niners still draft defensive, regardless whether or not they get Thomas and Clements. I wouldn't mind having Alan Branch or Laron Landry.
!st of all your wrong saying the Pats cant match the offer. As long as its not more than 27 mill they can do whatever they want. And I can almost guarantee with the contract they offered Clements that it isnt over that.
And their is no way Branch slips to 11, the Browns, Redskins or Cards will take him first. ALthough I think Okoye will be there and he or Carriker would be a great fit
Chill out bro, no need to get all crazy! I was just repeating what was stated on ESPN. They stated that the Niners can offer him more than any other team if they wanted to, and that he would have to choose between the money and the chance to play for a super bowl immediately. The niner are under the cap by approx 38-40 million.
There are numerous mock drafts that have Branch going at #11 or even below. I know that he is damn good, but you never know where he will go. The Browns are going to take either Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson. The Cards desperately need offensive linemen.
Apparently the rumors were wrong regarding Adalius Thomas. He is not in Santa Clara. The players that are currently meeting with the Niners are Clements and Michael Lewis.
Only reason why the pats have a shot at the superbowl is because they play in a god awful division. They arent winning anytime soon. Your time is up so stay in Foxburo Brady and Billi and go jack each other off in your circle jerk you pieces of !
Hey man I wasnt getting upset, just trying to correct you, sorry if it came off like that, I just take NFL talk serious. I just read that Thomas is visiting with the Pats as well and they are close on a deal
Whoa whoa, I hate the Pats as much as anyone, but to think they couldnt win it again is a little off
Ya, I also heard that he is talking with the Pats and that their only compe ion for him is the Niners.
