Mavs on verge of greatness
The Dallas Mavericks have yet to win an NBA le. They folded under pressure in game six of last year’s finals. And Dirk Nowitzki, this year’s MVP, is still trying to become Mr. Clutch.
It’s easy not to believe in the Mavericks until they win it all.
Despite no championship rings, Dallas is on the verge of becoming sports’ next dynasty, one that will rival the Yankees dominance in the late ’90s and the New England Patriots’ recent run.
To any self-proclaimed NBA expert, it’s obvious the Mavericks will win the NBA championship this season, and they will not be a one-year fluke.
If the referees didn’t bail out Dwyane Wade in game five of last year’s finals, Nowitzki would already have the le of Mr. Clutch.
In game five, Nowitzki made some great plays down the stretch that should have led to a victory that would have put the Mavericks up 3-2 heading back to Dallas.
Instead, a phantom foul was called on the Mavericks on a drive that saw Wade throw up a wild shot that missed. That one call delayed Dallas’ string of les by one year.
It looked as if that call lingered for the Mavericks in the opening weeks of this season. They lost their first four games.
But they have been a juggernaut ever since, going an incredible 49-5. It’s not too far-fetched to think Dallas could still win 70 games. All it has to do is go 21-3.
It’s possible San Antonio and Phoenix could push Dallas to six games in the playoffs, but that’s the best they can do.
Dallas simply has an amazing team. It starts with Nowitzki. Josh Howard is a rising star who plays with an edge. Every championship team needs a talented player like Howard.
The Mavericks also have instant offense off the bench with Jerry Stackhouse.
And coach Avery Johnson, in just his second full season, has a strong offensive team buying into playing tough defense.
Speaking of Johnson, he’s on the cusp of becoming the best coach in the NBA. He’s still very early in his coaching career, which means he’s many years away from burning out.
When the Mavericks win the le this year they will still have the hunger to win more.
Dallas is about to go on a run in which it will win three les in the next five years, and that’s a conservative estimate
dallas might win one le in three year but not 3 in 5
This guy needs to jump back into his tool box. Just don't mention phantom fouls and being bailed out around here...we saw it first hand two series earlier.
"If the referees didn’t bail out Dwyane Wade in game five of last year’s finals, Nowitzki would already have the le of Mr. Clutch."
Yes, because Dirk played great throughout that series and he
didn't miss key free throws etc.
I've been here awhile. Now go watch your sacramento queens
and their lovely purple uniforms.

I forgot my stupid password so I started a new one.
I was formerly "HeatOwnzNba".
then reset the password you fool
No one would scoff at that article more than Avery Johnson.
That said, everyone needs to STFU about the Mavs/Spurs series. If you think 32 personal fouls called against the Mavs and 22 against the Spurs (not counting intentional fouls) in Game 7 is a bias against the SPURS... well damn you are spoiled.
I'm pretty sure I was typing in the right one, someone
might have banned me so i just made a new one.
I had the same problem...I tried to get a hold of an ADMIN here and got nothing in return...so I created a new name as well...
I ing hate the heat though lol![]()
Be that as it may the Mavs still were screwed over big time in that series. Only the most homer of Heat fans won't admit that Wade got phantom fouls in the Finals. Go to youtube and see for yourself. Even in games this season Wade has gotten some incredible calls.
That's ok, it's probably cuz you know the heat are a better team
and will eliminate the pistons again this year.
lol...Nope, Ben is gone so we will not self destruct like last year![]()
Wade does get phantom calls like all super stars do. He has the ability
to draw them sometimes ala Reggie Miller and he's been able to exploit
that. Be that as it may, if the mavs were so much "better" than the
heat, there's no excuse for them losing four in a row and growing
vaginas when the pressure got high.
Detroit wins the East which will cause Riley to once again blow up the Heat and rid themselves of Antoine Chucker Walker, AARP Payton and Expired White Chocolate.
Please, all of you loved Ben and went as far as calling him the best
center in the league and now that he's gone he was all of a sudden
the problem?
Mhm, and the suns will lose to either San Antonio or Dallas
realize they will never win an NBA championship with
the canadian rag doll looking known as Steve
Nash.
Agreed. Guys would just breathe on Duncan, and fouls would be called. We should have made plays against the Heat, the way we made plays against the Spurs, no matter what kind of officiating there is.

You mean the rag doll that has own the Heat the last 2 seasons.
