Some one might correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you can really fix something like that unless you get the whole windsheild replaced.
I just noticed that I have a scratch in the glass on my front windshield. It must have happened this morning when I was out running errands.
Anyone have a recommendation of someone reliable and reasonable who could fix or at least stop the current break?

I don't think there is much you can do. Those cracks usually start from a stone chip and the right cir stances of cold weather and heat will form the crack. Living in a cold weather state, I see crack in windsheilds all the time. My advice would be to just deal with it as long as you can until you get sick of it/have the money to replace it.
Ive seen some windsheild repair shops around town, specifically I believe military drive
Im not sure what they do or how reliable that is but maybe someone knows exactly where these shops are.
Next time I see one Ill let you know.
If it's just a simple chip or crack in the windshield, it's easily fixed. Look in the yellow pages, or online for Auto Glass Repair, and you'll find plenty of options. Rough guess is $40-$50 to get it fixed (unless your insurance covers it, then it will be free!).

They are called Area Wide Auto Glass. My insurance company recommended them.
They are coming to me to fix it so all things considered this is only slightly inconvenient.
What he said. Depending on your ins., and if you have glass coverage, this should cost you nothing. Most places will come to you as well. Just call for an appt. If it's just a chip / crack in the windshield, they can easily fix it in about 10 mins once they arrive.
