Found this over on the Charger's board and it's pretty interesting. Wonder what year will have every record in his name.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
LT 6 years in the league, 95 regular season games played.
9176 rushing yards, 100 tds, 4.5 yards per carry.
    2900 receiving yards, 11 tds.
    12076 total yards, 111 tds.

    #1 Emmitt Smith- 6 seasons + First 2 games of his 7th.
9081 rushing yards, 96 tds, 4.4 yards per carry.
    1968 receiving yards, 4 tds.
    11049 total yards, 100 tds.

#2 Walter Payton- first 6 years + first 6 games of 7th season.
8844 rushing yards, 67 tds, 4.4 yards per carry.
    1933 receiving yards, 6 tds.
    10777 total yards, 73 tds.

    #3 Barry Sanders- first 6 years + first 6 games of 1995.
9267 rushing yards, 66 tds, 4.9 yards per carry.
    1929 receiving yards, 6 tds.
    11196 total yards, 72 touchdowns.

Season by season it is no contest- LT after 6 years vs. the top 3 after 6 years, LT smokes them. After 95 games, LT leads them all in total yards, (closest to him is Sanders, trailing by 880 yards) and everyone but Sanders in rushing yards.

Looking ahead to year 7, Sanders led the top 3 with 1500 yds, Payton had 1222, and Smith had 1204.

    Career averages:
LT- 1529 rushing yards per year
Smith- 1223 rushing yards per year (15 years)
Payton- 1286 rushing yards per year (13 years)
Sanders- 1527 rushing yards per year (10 years) < In year 9, Sanders had a 2053 yard season at 6.1 yards per carry.

On the pace he is at now after-
2007- 16th all time with 10705 rushing yards
2008- 11th all time with 12234 rushing yards
2009- 5th all time with 13763 rushing yards
2010- 3rd all time with 15292 rushing yards
2011- 2nd all time with 16821 rushing yards
    2012- 2nd all time with 18350 rushing yards- 5 yards behind Smith(18355

How many more touches did LT need to average 9 more yards a game than Barry?

LT is a great player, but he still has to do what he's been doing for at least 3 more years to be mentioned in that conversation.

EDIT: I did the math, he averaged 4.72 touches more/game to get those extra 9.26 yards.

During their first 95 games, LT averaged 4.9 yards/touch while Barry averaged 5.6 yards.

Not trying to knock LT at all, just remind people how great Barry was...

Barry's yards per carry were highlighted, it just didn't transfer over with the copy paste. Barry was amazing, but LT will surpass every record, even more so now that Marty won't be running him into the ground.

LT is amazing. The only back comparable to Barry. Being a complete homer, Barry will always be the best back I have ever seen. But damn if LT isn't coming close...

    Sorry Emmitt fans...

I think you should include Jim Brown's statistics.

Jim Brown's first 7 season in the league (roughly equivalent to the above due to less games in the season.)

9322 rushing yards, 82 tds, 5.2 yards per carry.
    1831 receiving yards, 14 tds.
    11153 total yards, 96 tds.

Terrell Davis had phenomenal numbers as well, and we saw how that worked out. LT should without a doubt break all the records, but he has to stay healthy first and foremost. You never know when Brian Griese will throw an interception and an offensive tackle will run over his knee.

    I'm just saying.

YES. Bo would have been the greatest, hands down if he hadnt gotten hurt. He was an absolute beast.

Chargers appear/win Super Bowl if they just kept giving LT the ball in the last 5 minutes of the game, instead they left it in Rivers hands and lose, hence coach gets canned with 14-2 record...

Barry was 100 times better than Smith.... If Barry never retired he would own the record........

LT needs to get away from the Chargers ... maybe go to the Colts or Patriots. I just don't see the Chargers winning in the next few years unless it turns out to be Steeler syndrome.

The Chargers have 26 key players signed through at least 2009. You sir, couldn't be more wrong.

We'll see ... I doubt they'll win, but whatever you want to think. We've seen some suprises in the past few years but those teams cool off after a season or so, while still retaining the same players.
