Can the Spurs reach 60 wins this season? As of this posting, they would have to go 18-4 the rest of the regular season to reach 60. Can they do it?

Things looking good for SA. We are beating all the teams that we are supposed to beat, in this 9 game winning streak. No careless losses like before. We should be beating Utah and Phoenix now...Dallas will be a challenge as always.

According to the question, "Can the Spurs reach 60 wins, going 18-4 the rest of the way, this season?", wouldn't the answer be "Mathematically, how could they not?"

I feel that March will be good month. However, it will be hard as the team will botch a few games during that span and will lose a few late in the season to rest the players for the playoffs. Probably looking at a 58-24 record.

I voted yes, but second guessing myself now. I'm pretty sure we'll gain some distance on Utah, but if we are not within say 2.5 games of the Suns by the last five or six games Pop will probably start resting everyone. I'd be really surprised if we don't get to at least 57 with the way we are playing now.

I don't think they will hit 60, 58 was my guess when I thumbed through their schedule. When the seedings are closer to being locked, I think, they will be more conservative with minutes in order to be as rested as possible

Pop's been monitoring their minutes all year. He may not mess with the rotation once he has it going, just to keep some momentum. Typically IIRC he might rest everyone in the last game, depending on the playoff schedule.

Speaking of tanking for Durant, what the heck are the 76ers doing winning games?

It's that great talent assembled by the second best GM in the NBA.

I'm pretty sure he'll have alot of rest for alot of players on the April 15th game. It will be interesting how Pop approaches that game, go all out trying to win to build our confidence more at the risk of us losing it and giving the Mavs more?

I'm not saying the Mavs are going to back down from us, but I am sure we are in the back of their heads now that we are playing so well. I doubt one series victory over us has rid their locker room of Spurs demons.

I guarantee you'll see vanilla offense and defense from both teams in that game with both coaches attempting to sneak wrinkles in and the players going at it.

That is a really, really easy schedule of games. Detroit, Utah, Dallas...the only tough games on that schedule. They've already beaten them all once this year, no reason why they can't do it again (playing at their best now, they weren't even playing at their best in the previous victories over those three teams this season)

I don't think Pop or AJ will take the April 15 game seriously, with Dallas almost locking the #1 spot. tim and dirk will probably be benched with "mysterious" injuries to save them for the playoffs.

both coaches will not tip their hand in this "teaser" of a game. setups and plays will be treated a s "secret weapons" to be unveiled only when they meet in the finals. it will be a scrubs vs scrubs match.

The April 5 vs. Phoenix, though will be a very interesting game. D'Antoni will surely try to run his players in the hope of gaining a marginal psychological momentum vs. spurs, which by all probability, will be their 2nd round opponents.

    Spurs against Dallas this season:

    W 97-91
L 95-92 (No foul on Finley 3-pt shot at end of regulation called, he should have gotten 3 free throws, anyone remember? Doesn't matter now I guess)
    L 90-85

Pop and Avery will be screwing the NBA fans out of a hotly contested match if they rest their big players on the April 15 game.

Last year, AJ "screwed" the fans when Dirk went down to an "undisclosed" injury in the last one or two games of the Mavs.

In the last few games, when the slots have all been decided, it will not be about the "fans", it'll all be about keeping healthy and rested for the coaches.

As a fan, I'd rather lose the April 15 game, than lose any of the big 3 to an injury, because of trying to win a "hotly" contested match.

I'd rather lose that small battle, than limp in the playoffs with a key player injured, and lose the bigger war.

Personally, if I were pop, i'd bench Tim and Tony, or barely let them play to give them rest.
