    At $10M a season I'd take neither.

Reggie Evans costs less than half that and would likely rebound about the same if he played as many minutes.

And I don't know if I could ever trust Curry with his weight and work ethic, despite his offensive potential.

Chandler main quality is the defense, not the rebounding.
Being a good rebounder isn't enough to be a good player in nba.
You should wonder you why Evans who is the best rebounder in the league has only played 14 min over the last 6 games with Denver.

Chandler isn't a very good defender. He's a decent weakside shotblocker and a pretty athletic player overall, but he's no defensive stopper. The Hornets actually give up more points when Chandler is on the court than when he is off (+2.2 per 100 possessions).

Evans, on the other hand, isn't only a better rebounder but has also started to play defense this year. The Nuggets give up seven less points per 100 possessions when Evans is on the court.

I don't think George Karl has ever been accused of being a great coach. And uh, the Spurs are currently starting at center the player that began last year as the Nuggets' 12th man.

So either the Spurs' bigs are horrible or Karl doesn't know what he's doing as far as his bigman rotation.

If my choices were Chandler with a moster contract and a chronically bad back, Curry with a monster contract and a heart condition or Evans and a smallish contract, I'd take Evans hands down. Curry and Chandler are cap killers and neither one is good enough to warrant that type of money.

I agree that Chandler isn't a great man to man defender but he is more than a "decent" weakside shotblocker. To me, he is a very good team defender.

BTW, I wonder how points per possessions is a good stat to judge a player :
Bowen was at +2.7 last year and is at -7.6 this year on the defensive end. Evans looked good on the defensive end in the two or three games I've watched with him this year but I don't know if he has played good defense the whole year.

George Karl isn't stupid too. If he goes with a player like Najera over Evans, there is a reason.
I see nothing wrong with Elson case. It's not like he is playing great with Spurs and starting over Oberto isn't the biggest performance of the year.
The only thing that I don't understand at all is why Nuggets have signed Evans to a long term contract : AFAIK, he isn't playing worse than in the previous years (you even think that he is playing better D) and he is in the doghouse. What's the point to sign a player to a quite big contract if you don't use him while he plays at his level ?

    He has popovichitis.
    Remember Rasho???
Dude was playing very well on D, was never known as a dunker and could've scored more if he wasn't playing with Timmy(KG spent most of his time on the perimeter)

Rasho has had a good first season with Spurs and played a lot.
He has been in the doghouse after that because he wasn't at the same level. He was too a bad fit in the post-Shaq west conference but it wasn't the main reason since Spurs have tried to sign Przybilla last summer.
If Rasho was at the same level in 05-06 than in 03-04, he would have played more and he would still be a Spurs.
