too bad they're on the same conference, if not, it would make for some serious Drama in the Finals....
The fact that the Spurs have turned it on only serves to make this season potentially more interesting. Thank heaven for the Western Conference.
Only negative is that this three-team race (Spurs/Suns/Mavs) will be all over before the finals.

I'm totally with you. Now that the Spurs are starting their stretch run it's got me thinking about the postseason and I'm psyched. This year's field is as open as I can remember and there's a lot of good stories waiting to unfold this postseason. Some are still taking the Mavs incredible season with a grain of salt because of previous postseasons, will they finally break through to win it all? Will Phoenix, suddenly uprooted as the media darlings, get a chip on their shoulder and play tough enough to finally get to the finals? Do the aging Spurs have enough in the tank to carry their new found momentum into another championship run? And you can't forget about teams like Denver, Utah, LA, and Houston. All lead by coaches with finals experience, all potentially dangerous in a seven game series if they can get healthy by May.
And the East isn't a total wash either. Wade is trying to make it back for the playoffs (although I'm already tired of hearing about that). I think Lebron is starting to enter the stage in his career where anything less than a finals appearance will have people questioning whether he's worth any of his hype, particularly with Wade already sporting a ring. And the Pistons, while generally seen as the far and away best in the East, are still in the shadow of the West's contenders. It was a similar story in 2004, and this team relishes the roll of underdog. And Flip Saunders may well be the coach with the most pressure on him of anyone this year. If they don't make the finals he might find his neck in a noose.
This postseason is shaping up to be a great one and there's still plenty of basketball left to play.
If the Mavs were not winning every ing night and on pace for a gazillion wins i would be more excited. We'll see what happens all the history is on the Mavs side right now. No team in NBA history has ever won as many games as they have at this point in the year and not won the le. Spurs are playing great right now but i am still not sure if they are as good as the Mavs, i hope they are.
yes you can. those teams won't get near the Finals. you gotta be kidding me.
i wonder how good we could be in the east?

I'm not saying that they will get to the finals. Only that depending on health and matchups they won't be easy outs for anyone.
It would be awesome for San Antonio to be in the East. Then we would have the great ECF matchup of Detroiiiiiiiiit Basket-baaaaaaall vs. The Spurs, and the WCF Offensive display of Phoenix vs. Dallas.
Which would likely lead into a ridiculously awesome finals matchup of Dallas and San Antonio.
Mmm.
damn adrienne. if those are your lips...![]()
Cant wait either, the only thing I dont want is to play Utah, they match up so well with us and Okur always kills us for some reason. Probably the same way Mavs fans feel about T-Mac and the Rockets
Damn ggoose25, if those are ur teeth![]()
The Western Conference Semi-Finals has some SERIOUS potential.
Mavs / Jazz/Rockets
Suns / Spurs

Its definitely gonna be a fun playoffs, especially because the first time in recent memory the Spurs will be a clear underdog to the Mavs, perhaps even the Suns.
