At their prime, who would you rather have on the Spurs team right now? Both could score, although Mitc had a better jump shot, but Kenon could rebound and run the floor well. Niether were known for their defense, although Kenon had 11 steals in one game, so I would have to say Mr. K! I think he would fit in well with Parker, Manu, and Duncan. Kenon would definitely be another scoring option.

    Just imagine: SF Kenon
    PF Duncan
    C Elson
    SG Manu
    PG Parker

Pretty good starting five I think!

Kenon without question. He was more versatile (better defense) than Mike and still averaged over 20 ppg at the height of his career.

Gots to be Larry "Mr. K" Kenon.

I really hated to see the Spurs trade him to the Bulls.

Glad to see the ol' school love for my boy Kenon.

Guess I'm gonna be the only one to pick one of my favorite Spurs of all-time, Mike Mitc , master of the mid-range (a lost and forgotten art).

Mike's reliable offensive attack would have opened things up a lot for Duncan. I remember him as a trusted scorer, and he was able to share the ball and the floor with Gervin quite well.

It's a tough call, I liked Kenon as well, but I recall there were at ude issues, correct? I think Kenon was likely a more talented player, but he wasn't able to reach his potential due to being a resentful head-case.

Never got to see Kenon play and I watched Mitch do some amazing stuff when I saw him in the early to mid 80's. Have to go with Mitch.

Mitc was a solid player but "K" was Special, thus the nickname. The man had some mad skills before his unfortunate injury. NBA fans never got to see the real Special K.

I don't recall any head case problems and certainly no problems with his personal life. He obviously didn't resent the city because he still lives here and sells cars at the local Lincoln dealership.

    If we're imagining...

    SF Elliott
    PF Duncan
    C Robinson
    SG Gervin
    PG Parker

    OR, better still

    SF Bird
    PF Duncan
    C Robinson
    SG Jordan
    PG O. Robertson

    Or, even better still

    2. Chuck Norris

I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall that Kenon was a bit of a locker-room lawyer, and had contract issues?

Not very popular at his alma mater I reckon:

"Though Memphis State, now the University of Memphis, has retired the numbers of other former basketball players, like Larry Finch, Keith Lee, and Anfernee Hardaway, Larry Kenon has never had his number retired. He arguably had the most successful pro career of any Memphis State basketball player."

Has anyone seen the commercial with Mike Mitc and Fabrico for Ancira?

The line delivery between both of them cracks me up.

Kenon's defense was better, rebound and all-around game was better and I recall he averaged over 20ppg a couple of years (about the same as Mitc ) although Mitc was a better pure jump-shooter. Kenon got a lot on layups, put backs and fast breaks because he was so fast.

You have to remember that defense was what enclosed the backyard in those days. With Pop's emphasis on defense, Kenon today would be awesome because he had the tools.

Kenon only played there one year, IIRC. He was a JuCo transfer. He put up ridiculous numbers (27.6p/25.1r), and they made it to the NCAA le game, losing to one of the Walton UCLA dynasty teams. He bolted, and they were a non-factor for like 10 years after that. Maybe they were pissed that he left. It wasn't nearly as common back then to leave school before your eligibility was up as it is now.
