A city-wide manhunt came to an end early Saturday morning when a missing mother of two and her boyfriend were arrested. 19-year-old Valerie Lopez and her boyfriend Jerry Salazar were found in the I-35 and Zarzamora area. They’d been on the run since Wednesday.
Today, police told News 4 WOAI’S Matari Jones that Lopez confessed to murdering one of her children, 18-month-old Sariyah Garcia. According to an arrest affidavit, Lopez told police, “She was under a lot of stress. The child (Sariyah) wouldn’t stop crying. She hit her several times on the head and body until she was unresponsive.”
Police say Lopez claims the death of her second child, Sebastian Lopez, was an accident.
“She unintentionally rolled on the child,” said SAPD Chief Bill McManus.
Both children were found dead and buried underneath a house on West Winnipeg earlier this week. Their bodies were so badly decomposed the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said additional tests are necessary to determine the causes of deaths. Those results are expected to be released at a later date.
Investigators say that Lopez admitted she and Salazar continued to live in the home while her children’s bodies rotted beneath iit.
At this time, Lopez is charged with Capital Murder. Her bond was set at $10 million. That is the highest bond ever set by a Magistrate Judge. Salazar is being held on a $1 million bond on a driver’s license charge. Police are working to build a case against him in connection with the children.
Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed says she plans to seek the death penalty against Lopez.

I am sooooooooo pissed off. So far this week I have seen a grandmother, a great grandmother, and 2 aunts on tv all saying they knew she wasn't capable of taking care of the kids and suspected the little girl was being abused; so what did they do? NOTHING!!!!!!!! They all waited around for CPS to do something. They are all guilty to some degree.
ok so she allegedly killed her daughter on Christmas Eve. Now how in the did it go unnoticed that the child wasn't around for 2 months? wtf??

Some things are just go unoticed. They probaly lied and said the kids were somewhere else. She had her first child when she was 13. 13. Thats not even old enough to drive, not even old enough for the permit, and she had a kid, something millions of older, more responsible women across the world dont have. What a waste of precious young lives. Luckily her first two kids were taken by CPS, and are now adopted and safe. My heart goes out to the family, but you're right mrsmaaalox, they should have done something. I can only imagine how the surviving kids will have this explained to them. manny is right. with the at ude that people have today, you shouldnt be shocked at this kind of . Bless their little souls. How can some people say the death penalty is wrong? Its reserved for people like this, who never should have been given life in the first place. When killers get spared, its horrible for the family because their loved one is gone forever from this world, and they are packed six feet under in freshly dugged dirt. Meanwhile, at a maximum security prison, the killer sits, confined but, and this is the important thing, alive. Everyday they wake up and breath the air around them, they eat, they can converse with loved ones, and they basically live their life. You see? Death is the worst, or the best , for people. I only hope they have to electrocute, inject, or do whatever to rid the Earth of that sack of , twice, afte the first time doesnt quite work.

Dude, prison can't be as bad as most of us think of it. They have TV 3 square meals a day and a bed to sleep in. that could be considered a luxury to some people.
You commit murder, you should suffer a MUCH worse death than what you did. One appeal and thats it. all this crap that keeps actual murders on death row for 20 years.

yeah man when i was in the drunk tank, other inmates were actually looking forward to going upstairs and 2 a cell.... for the same reasons you stated. you get a bed, tv, play cards with friends that he knew were up there. Weird ing i just wanted to get out and he was lookin forward to going to a cell.
