the cavendish as we know it may be gone in the next 10-20 years. farmers and scientists are working like crazy to create a hybrid with the same qualities. lack of foresight, as this already happed to the gros michel in the 50s. cavendish trees are clones and cannot evolve resistance against panama disease, which wiped out the gros michel.
