How badass would he be in our Spurs system. He might me a dream small forward for us.

The energy, the hustle, if he gets a corner three down he would be a dream.

I don't know if all that's true but he does play for Zeke. I think if we polish up a few rocks well enough he can be had.

Is this the biggest knee-jerk reaction in NBA history? The dude has one good game, and every expert in the nation is calling Isiah a genius.

Everyone in the country was laughing on the ground when they drafted him. He had a very nice game against the Raptors, but the jury is still out.

One thing good about him is that he rebounds well. He averages 3.8 in 13-14 mpg.

Nah, Renaldo has been pretty good for the knicks.
    PER at SF - 20.4
    Opposing SF PER - 14.2
    Net PER +6.3

    EFG .498
    Rebound Rate 16.2%

    and he's been good defensively.

Renaldo would likely have been available later, but he's been a productive pick for Isiah... He's been worth his draft spot.

Is he a free agent or something? Why is this being brought up? He has had a couple really good games, and is a good rebounder and defender from what Ive seen, but if we are going to talk about our three solution again, shouldnt we be talking about someone we can get?

You think you can win a bidding war against me? I'll pay him 5 year/85 mil. The only reason you could out bid me is if I let you. How is Butler working out for you.

Not really. Being a die hard Spurs fan here in NY I watch and follow all the Knick games. When Balkman gets consistent minutes he performs well. Especially on the defensive side. Check his game log you will be surprised.

As far as people questioning why I even brought this up, I thought this was a message board where poeple discuss things. Plus anybody Isiah has can be taken. lol

Not true. Isiah loves this kid, ever commentator mocked his choice and said it would be his first poor move as a head coach. The fact of the matter is that Isiah has stuck by his guns, developed this kid, and only speaks praise about his hustle in practice and games. My guess is he can't be had unless given a decent draft pick, Scola, and maybe a gem like Udrih or Ely for Balkman + a really bad contract.

I think the Knicks have tasted what the Spurs have to offer (Malik!) and don't like what they have. The next move with them will have to benefit the Knicks in some way (not Malik!)

Yea it is a discussion board, but the more realistic the discussion the better the board. As Gros just said, this is Isaihs guy, he would not let him go unless the deal was very sweet, and I dont think that a deal like that is going to be offered for Balkman. Dont get me wrong, I do think he would be a good fit for us, but I just dont see us giving getting him.

This guy Butler wtf! I just don't get it. Larry Brown sang his praises and now we have nothing! He will 100% get traded to wherever Brown is next year and will play quality minutes for him. Thats what makes everything just hard to understand..

When Renaldo gets at least 20 minutes of playing time, he shoots .535 from the field and puts up 8.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg in an average of 25.4 mpg.

We just didnt have playing time for him this year, but with his youth, the fact he gets to practice against Timmy everyday, has a great coach in a great system, and has Chip to help him with his shot, I still think he will be a bigtime contributor next year. He will take all of Bertys minutes next year

Uh, Isiah traded Nazr Mohammed to the Spurs for Malik Rose AND DAVID LEE AND MARDY COLLINS. I think it benefitted the Knicks more than people realize.

Yes thats what I thought and thats what everybody was talking about on the board! The infamous (Jackson Program). Then on MYSA we kept on reading (I think it was Ludden) how they are VERY un-happy with him and how things aren't working out. We also got to hear that at the trading deadline we were trying to move him and reports of us trying to send him to the 76ers (Brown). This all just does not make sense.

True, don't know enough about Collins but I'd take David Lee every day of the week over Fabs and Elson.

isiah has a good eye for young talent. no doubt about that. a much better eye than larry brown and the spurs have. that's why isiah knew better than to match the spurs offer for butler. and why the spurs were dumb enough to throw that money at him.

They didnt even give him a big contract, and the Knicks wanted to keep him, but couldnt with their lack of cap room

cap room wasn't an issue. they were already way over the cap. the knicks chose not to match the offer.

Larry Brown, the weasel, is a longtime family friend with Butler's agent. And Butler's agent is the son of Brown's agent. He probably suckered popovich into believing that butler wasn't a third string player, at best.

Yea, so you really think that them being way over the cap, and a payroll more than 40 million more than the next team had nothing to do with not re-signing him? That makes absolutely no sense. Isaih had said that he wanted to re-sign him, but couldnt because everybody was already so pissed about the payroll.

of course money played a role in it - the knicks didn't think it was worth spending $2 + million on a third string center.
