That since Manu won player of the week his aggression has disappeared. I think since he won he has tried to be more unselfish if thats a word. He needs to go back and take control of these games and quit sharing so damn much!!!
Actually, I get concerned with his overaggression when it comes to the 4th quarter. Sometimes he tries to force it too much, resulting in blown plays. He may not be getting assists though, but he's doing a great job getting everyone involved. No need to be hard on him

I think it gets in their heads and screws with them and I think Manu is the type of guy who puts team awards first and this is his way of letting his team in on it too. He needs to put the team on his shoulders cause the team was much better when he dominates the ball. yeah yeah

Manu has flashes of brilliance and thenregularly goes back to or below mediocrity for a while. i'm sure that Spurs fans hope that they can catch lightning in a bottle again and have Manu hot for the playoffs (like they got against Detroit), but history suggests another flameout....
The above might be slightly extreme but the knock on Manu (from other teams/scouts) has always been his inconsistency. I doubt it's going to change at this point. Manu is so talented that even when he's in one of his "down" times he's still damn good. It just has to be frustrating for Spurs fans as they know how awesome he can play. Even with his inconsistency, I'd still take him over most players.
I think that it is his style of play which leaves him so worn out and inconsistent. he throws his body around with reckless abandon, and flops like no other. There is no doubt that he can be a very good player, he just burns himself out alot.
You are a Mavs fan right? Would you rather have Manu or Stackhouse this season, as they currently have been playing, for the playoffs?

For the playoffs...I'd rather have Stack on this current Mav team. The Mavs need Stack much more most people realize. I'd rather have Manu in the long run though. Basically, it just comes down to personalities and the Mavs need Stack's toughness & leadership as their other core players aren't naturally tough or are leaders. I think Manu is a better player though and I'd take him in the long run.

Stack can play 3-4 more years if he's used like the Mavs are currently using him (20-25 minutes/game except in big games & playoffs). The problem will be (if the Mavs win the le this season) that Stack might want to start again somewhere else. I believe he's a free agent after this season.
You probably know more about this, but I thought that he had come out recently speaking of how much he likes his role in Dallas, and of how much he respects AJ and loves being on the Mavs. This role seems perfectly suited to his game at this point in his career.
He's also just recently come out and said that he wants to win a le more than anything and if they accomplish that this season then he might rethink what he wants to do going forward. He mentioned how he feels he has 3-4 years left of good ball and he may want to be a starter somewhere. Stack doesn't hide the fact that he'd rather be starting, but his desire to win a le keeps him ok with accepting the 6th man role for the good of the team.
I agree though, I don't think his body could handle playing 35 minutes a game again. He's in the perfect role now.
well, if he wants to win a le more than anything, then I would say that he in in the right place on the right team. these Mavs look poised to give him that ring sooner than later.
He'll have to play a key part if they are going to win. He'll play 30+ minutes and be in at the end of games during the playoffs.
30+ minutes?? That sounds a little heavy, but you obviously watch maore Mavs basketball than I do.
I did see how integral he is during that Mavs/Suns game, and it seemed like he logged alot of minutes in that one. You guys were also missing alot of players though. If George, Buckner and everyone else is healthy, do you think that Stack will command 30+ min. of playing time??
Hopefully not in the earlier rounds as much but, yes, he'll play starters minutes in many playoff games. Plus, he'll be in the tight games at the end unless he's really been cold from the field. You have to remember that he really is a tough matchup for most teams. They generally have to guard him with only one guy (cuz of Dirk) and there aren't too many guys in this league that Stack can't easily get a high % shot against. The other team's best defenders are usually assigned to Dirk & Josh. Avery has limited his minutes this season just so his body will be ready to play a lot in the playoffs. That's been their plan since early in the season.
so Avery has been purposely keeping his minutes down to save him for the playoffs?? what an interesting notion....
I thought that the Suns were the best team since Showtime, and D'Antoni has revolusionized the NBA game!? Following that logic, shouldn't AJ be playing a seven man rotation of his best players for 40 minutes a game? J/K
I did not realize that the Mavs had a bigger role in mind for Stack during the playoffs though. As you pointed out, he can get buckets on almost any one defender still, and is an underrated passer and defender. That Phoenix game shocked me with how well he can still play. He also seems to be a big part of the Mavs locker room... It should be fun to see what your team does in the post season. As long as they don't end up playing the Lakers....
Yeah, Stack got hurt early in the season and then they came up with the plan to limit him to 20-25 minutes per game until the playoffs. He's had a game here & there where he's played more than that but, for the most part, they've stuck to the plan. He's always played more minutes during the playoffs than during the regular season.
