Was Vinnie Johnson a 6th man? If so, him
Who do you guys think it is? I realize that sixth men change yearly, so you can say best individual season from a sixth man or greatest player to ever be a sixth man.
I'm going with Kevin McHale.
I think Larry Hughes was a sixth man at some point.

Yeah, Microwave was the 6th man for the Pistons.
Corliss Williamson had a few great years at 6th man for the Pistons as well. Former Arkansas great.
Yeah I liked that Arkansas team
John Havlicek, Bobby Jones and Ricky Pierce should all be in the discussion as well.
IMO, it's a toss up between Havlicek and McHale.
1.Detlef Schremph
2. Gino
3. Vinnie Johnson
Jamison's one year in Dallas was a great sixth man season.
Bobby Jackson had some nice years in Sacramento as well.
This is most likely not the best one of all time, but my favorite is Ben Gordon.
It's really hard to say who is the best of all-time ; plus, u have different categories of 6th men :
- Instant pure scorers, who can score lots of points in a jiffy (Vinnie Johnson, Jamison, Mike Miller, Ben Gordon, Ricky Pierce, Eddie Johnson)
- All-around guys (Schrempf, Cliff Robinson, Manu, Havlicek)
- Energy guys (Bobby Jackson, Manu)
- Clutch , fearless (Havlicek, Mario Elie)
I just looked up Cliff Robinson....wow I'd forgotten how solid that guy was...and for a long time too.
I think the 6th men that completely changed the game (tempo, offensive focus, defensive tempo) when they entered were the ones that should make the list, not just solid players.
-Vinnie Johnson
-Ben Gordon
-John Starks
-Dikembe Mutombo these past years
-Kevin McHale
-Xavier McDaniel
...and what Manu's doing this year is just sick.
16 posts and nobody has mentioned Ricky Pierce yet.
Nobody mentioned Bobby Jones either. Michael Cooper too.
^Are yall blind? This post was near the top of the page.
