First of all, depression is a serious thing. If you are depressed, you need to seek counseling or get a prescription for some happy pills immediately. If you are an emo, you are just pretending to be depressed for attention. Its the most pathetic trend destroying our youth. Emo kids. (Short for emotional. Clever how they abbreviated a 9 letter word) This trend is nothing more than a recycled version of the mid-90s Seattle grunge movement. For some reason, 13-16 year old teenagers think they are making a statement by wearing faded colors and stripes or whatever. Point being, its incredibly lame. .Emo kids in this country arent cool. They are NOT their own person. .. They dont march to the beat of their own drum--which makes them pussified, poser freak shows. Now everyone with long black hair and an electric bass thinks they are some kind of poet. Give me a ing break. You want to be taken seriously? Walk to the middle of the gym at a high school pep rally, steal the microphone, and tell everyone how they ruined your life. Then slit your throat in front of the entire school and let yourself fall over in a bloody heap. I tend to doubt any of you emo kids have the balls for that, which reiterates my point that its nothing more than a lame attention getter. And if you don't want to make the headlines, stop pretending to be sad and think of the millions of people that have a of a lot harder lives than you. And start listening to better music, like System of a Down and Rage against the Machine to name a couple. Finally if you are Emo and you know me personally, Im sorry for being so harsh, on second thought,.. grow up!! Go do something productive with your life instead of trying to be the center of the universe by pretending that you are sad when you're not! And if you're a girl and is falling for an Emo boy then you are being decieved or you're just a dumb and you are probably letting this kid play you so you can gain attention for yourself which probably makes you an emo.... Im not sure why I have a sudden urge to diss all you emo kids, maybe because you are fake, spoil and dont really have the hard lives that you say you do.. Try living in a third world country and experience how hard life can really be!

My life is spiraling downward
I couldn’t get enough money to go to the Blood Red Romance and Suffocate Me Dry concert
It sucks cause they play some of my favorite songs like “Stab my heart because I love you” and “Rip apart my soul” and of course “Stabby rip stab stab” And It doesn’t help that I couldn’t get my hair to do that flippy thing either…like that guy from that band can do….some days you know...

How many people do you see out there making fun of hip hop and rap? That's what's really popular right now, not emo music, if you checked MTV for example. You're 10x more likely to see 3 6 Mafia than Taking Back Sunday. The reason I compare the two is because they're both considered popular, yet one is made fun of a lot more than the other. The reason for this, I believe, is the discrepency between ramifications. "Emos" do things to themselves, not to others. Those who insult emos know they won't get hit up because of stupid reasons like "you were disrespectin me."

And the lines of emotional music are heavily blurred, I might add. I've heard everything from Dashboard Confessional to Linkin Park as being emo. Nowadays I'm hearing everyone call anything uncool "emo." Is it becoming such that any band that sings about something that means a lot to them is silly, or that anyone who seeks help for problems is unmanly?

Music about depression can be found in all genres! But emo depression is false depression and they found a way to bank on their false depression by creating bands that depicts their so called problems. They need music that they can relate to. When an emo kid believes that no one understands her/him they dont realise that we actually do understand; he or she is faking their depression to get what they want. Which is usually attention. If they were really depressed they would try their best not to draw attention to themselves and try to isolate themselves from everybody else .

In my school, they're actually threatening to kill other people... the normal kids at our school, who don't even do to them...
