5 pounds... that doesn't sound like a healthy baby to me.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Former e Girl Melanie Brown has given birth to a daughter in California, her publicist said Tuesday.
The baby, who weighs 5 pounds, 4 ounces, was born just after midnight Tuesday at St. John's hospital in Santa Monica, said Nadine Bibi in an e-mail.
"Baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting," the statement said. "No name has been decided on as yet, and (she) is purely known as Baby Brown!"
Brown has said ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy is the father. The 46-year-old "Dreamgirls" star has said he's not sure. Brown has said there's "absolutely no question that Eddie is the father."
The 31-year-old Brown, known as Scary e when she was in the megahit group of the '90s, has an 8-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi, from her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar.
Gulzar married Brown in 1998 after he had performed on a e Girls tour. Their 15-month marriage ended in divorce in 2000.
Murphy's wife, Nicole, filed for divorce in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple were married in 1993 and have five children.

Thats small, but could still be healthy.
A baby that small is pretty "scary"
Unless the baby was a premie.
I was very healthy when I was born.
My mom used to joke that her whole life she prayed for a baby and God gave her a little football player.![]()
while 5 lbs isn't necessarily the healthiest baby, its definitely not unhealthy.
That's 2380 grams, which by this chart, (there are lots of these charts), is a damn small birth weight.

So was I ... and I was 5lbs 8oz. and my brother was 5lbs 4oz....perfectly healthy and full-term. My mom just happened to be a very small woman.
The weight is on the small side, but perfectly within the normal range.
*shrugs*
I was a big baby, with a big man-penis. The nurses loved me long time.
I weighed in at 9 pounds and some ounces.
My mom worked in the hosptal so they gave me a crib in the front of the nursery window.
I'm just lucky neither of my kids turned out like their dad ... who was 10.5lbs. Screw that ... they'd have come out the window.![]()

I have a hard time believing Andy was EVER 5 lbs. 4 oz.

my daughter was 2 weeks early, and weighed 5 lbs. 8 oz. perfectly healthy - she had to be induced because my wife is smallish and there was no more room in the womb.
Or worse... they could have been like me... come halfway out and then go back in.
Little ASF was 9 lbs. 16 oz., and they had to break her clavicle to get her to come out. They were actually out in the hall yelling for nurses to come in the delivery room and help out. Mrs. ASF had nurses leaning all their weight on her belly to help push. Good times...great oldies!

Maybe for you![]()
Seriously? Why didn't they do a c-section? Being stuck in the middle of birth is very dangerous.
I thought you meant your wife's ... I was going to say, were they trying to get the baby out of her mouth?![]()
The doc said they couldn't because she had already crowned. He said he was about 5 seconds away from ordering an emergency c-section which would have killed Little ASF and almost have killed mommy.
Luckily, she popped out just in time!
With all the horror stories they told us about how she might have turned out (possible loss of movement in her left arm, possible brain damage from the delivery), I'm amazed at the perfect little angel she has become! No lingering problems whatsoever!
Dayum!
