Sutton object of Razorbacks’ affection
The Daily Oklahoman reports the University of Arkansas has requested permission from Oklahoma State Athletics Director Mike Holder to speak with Oklahoma State head coach Sean Sutton. The paper goes on to say a faction of University of Arkansas boosters are pushing for the Razorbacks to hire Sutton as replacement for Dana Altman, who had the job for one day before deciding to remain at Creighton.
The Oklahoman also reports that Arkansas has decided to hire a search firm to seek out possible candidates for at least the remainder of this week.
Sean Sutton, 38, recently completed his first year as OSU’s head coach. The Cowboys finished 22-13 and were 6-10 in the Big 12.
Sutton was named head coach designate at OSU three years ago, receiving a five-year deal that assured he would succeed his father, Eddie. Sean Sutton’s contract has four years left at $750,000 a year.
Altman sited the elder Sutton as one of the reasons he decided to stay at Creighton. Eddie Sutton began his career by taking over a Creighton team that had not produced a winning record in three seasons and led them to five consecutive winning marks as well as a 23-7 record in 1974 and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where they made it to the Elite Eight.
Interestingly, Eddie is also one of the reasons the Razorback fan base would like Sean Sutton. Eddie took Arkansas to the Final Four in 1978 and the Elite Eight on 2 other occasions.
The Cowboys, who return JamesOn Curry, Marcus Dove, Byron Eaton, Terrel Harris, Kenny Cooper and Obi Muonelo, and bring in McDonald’s All-American James Anderson, are expected to be one of the top teams in the league next season.

Maybe Eddie will pull a Drew and unretire to come back and coach again.

I feel bad for Arkansas - they'll really going to have to settle at this point.
