After watching Oden destroy the Gators in the NCAA championship when Florida often had 5 "NBA" players on the court, I took serious notice of this kid's ability to have an immediate impact on the league.
He's like a taller Ben Wallace with a soft shot and an incredibly quick first step on offense. I'm not sure about the Ewing comparisons of yet, but I'll say this... I think Oden will average 22 points 12 boards and 3 blocks per, maybe more boards if he gets into shape, less if he doesn't. He might even get close to 3.5 or 4 blocks.
Now I have to wonder where he and Durant will go, and who will end up with better numbers.
Opines?
It may depend on where he goes...but I like his chances on having a stellar NBA career.
Based on what I see....at his peak:
26-29 ppg
10-14 rbs
1.5-2.9 blks
2-3 assists
First season Oden won't have as big an impact because he's still gotta learn the offensive game, plus he gets in foul trouble WAY too easy. I say rookie year he averages 12 pts/10 reb/2 blocks. But eventually he's going to be a perennial MVP candidate and averaging around 25pts/14reb/4blocks.
i'd go with
18 pts
8 rbs
1.6 blks
I think Durant will have better numbers, while Oden will have better team success.
Very Duncan/Garnett.
I'm gonna be outlandish and say he's the next Ralph Sampson.
rooklie year he sits behind Michael Olowakandi in Boston
He breaks his ankle, tears his knee apart after his first dunk, career ending
or he averages 20-27, 10-15 and 2 to 3, maybe 4 blocks
did you just insinuate that garnett has had good team success?
17 to 20 points, 10-12 boards, 2-4 blocks for his career
How did you do on the analogy portion of the SAT?
Not to be wiseass but he did follow the question/answer comparison respectively.![]()
For his career? 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 and change blocks.
I'll give him a peak season of 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
I think he'll stay in college and become a CPA.

what the are you smokin?![]()
I see him as Dikembe Mutombo with offensive skills.
Peak seasons: 53-55 FG%, 24-25 ppg, 12-13 rpg, 3-3.5 bpg
Career: 51-52 FG%, 17-19 ppg, 10.5-11.5 rpg, 2.5-3 bpg
I think he'll struggle offensively for the first few years, but will be a steady rebounding machine.
First year 15ppg 11rpg, Career 18ppg 13rpg...not sure on the blocks
19 pts., 12 reb., 2 ast., 2 blk.
I don't think he will be that great a rebounder. Perhaps solid, but not mind boggling like a Rodman or Russell. But, I do think he'll be one of the great shotblockers in the league.
For his career:
18.7 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 3.3 bpg
From what I've seen of his blocks, he has about a 30 inch vertical. He already has one of the best big bodies in the NBA, and I'm not sure there are many 7 footers that have a hope of stopping him in the paint. When you consider that Shaq only has a couple years left, and the fact that there are a complete dearth of good big men out East, I think he could accomplish this. Look at what Dwight Howard is doing on the glass as a young guy for Orlando in the East.
Greg Oden will leave the game as one of the top 10 greatest centers to ever play.
What's the over/under on him being a better post player than Walton?![]()

But seriously, I hope Oden isn't mired in the mud of the NBA with a horrible team his whole career (a la Garnett). I know he's a lot of untapped athletic potential, but I don't think I've seen a big man play instinctive shot blocking defense in college like that for a long time. And he's 19.![]()
