good luck w/ that. if popovich has shown anything, it's that he's stubborn to a point of stupidity. but at least, hopefully, the small ball apologists will shut up once and for all

Wasn't small ball on the floor at the end? That's all they see.

It made definite appearances tonight. Not sure if it was present at the end.

I think it was Duncan, Finley, Bowen, Manu and Parker for the end of the game. Therefore, smallball won the game. Doesn't matter that they gave up a big lead.

Finley getting 10 rebounds will only encourage Pop even more.

Actually, Fin was in the right places at the right times more than I've ever seen him before, and he fought for position and rebounds. It seemed like he was doing a good job, but I didn't know he got ten boards. That said, they still turned a big lead into a small one at the end. But if he plays team D like that, I'm much less concerned about the lineup. Don't know if that's going to happen against a team that isn't also running a small lineup. I can dream.

I will say that over the past month+ it does seem that our wings have worked harder for rebounds in 'small ball.' that doesn't excuse it, just an observation.

Small ball works pretty well against the Suns in streches due to the Suns being horrible on the boards. Against Utah, Houston, Lakers, Dallas - not so much. Still going to have to use it in spurts due to lack of serious depth at center, but hopefully not quite as much as in the past.

Do you think Finley will stay in the starting lineup when Barry gets healthy?

The way he is playing I think its going to be very hard for Brent to reclaim that spot

Finley or Barry seem to be able to contribute coming off the bench, but Barry seems to play better when he's coming off the bench. I'd keep Finley there and keep Barry as the 2nd wing off the bench. I think you get more out of both guys that way.

The combination of Brent's injury and Manu's struggles gave Fin 41 minutes. We got away with it today but I'd rather not do it again.

Yeah I don't want any Spurs players playing 41 minutes on a regular basis. I just wonder how the minutes are going to pan out in the postseason. I guess it depends on how often Pop is going small.

Pop will give Oberto and Elson's minutes to Bonner and Horry. You know he's gonna do it.

Having two players out did extend the minutes a bit. All this small this and small that. I am starting to picture Steve Martin doing his early comedy routines.
