Bowen was superb. Finley's defense and rebounding was very good as well.

Damn straight, Bowen was all up on Nash and he took him out of his comfort zone. Tony did a great job showing Nash's weakness on D as well on the other end.

TP carried the load, but Bowen set the tone.

Duncan's 5 blocks including his brutal shut down on Amare was no small part, either.

So did a lot of Spurs. TP was great but he benefited that Barbosa + Nash was guarding him. Comeon, Beno would have at 20+ with Barbosa + Nash guarding him.

The Suns run through Steve Nash, if you stop Nash, Suns lose. Bowen pretty much stopped Nash, he did have a lot of team help in D, but in some instances he stopped Nash singlehandedly.

Yeah. Forget about putting Bowen on Marion.

    Bowen - Nash
Finley - Marion (and Gino covers him too)
    Parker - Bell
    Duncan/Elson - Amare/KT

    The perfect Suns-beating lineup.

Reason we won this game: Mr. Bruce Bowen
Translation: Manu didn't play well but we can't let credit go to the Anti-Christ. Quick, let's come up with another hero and an excuse for the offensive output of that Frenchie.

Normally, no way Fin can defend Marion. But if you take Nash out, Marion's a lot easier to defend.

Also, you can't just put Bruce on Nash every game from here on and not expect Nash to adjust. What you need is to alternate Bruce, TP, and Vaughn on Nash and keep him off balance.

If we face them again, they'll probably try to run Bruce off more picks.

Bowen actually has also guarded Marion awesome in the past. So I think you are right they are going to have to switch the defenders a lot in the (potential) postseason matchup. The Spurs have the tools to make it work though. As long as Manu/Finley/Barry combo show up on D, they should be good.

I'm just glad that Finley stepped up as a third scorer. Manu seemed to get so caught up in his fouls that he stopped being aggressive. I am happy with the 5 boards and 2 steals. The 4 turnovers... not so much.

Yeah, everyone remembers what Bruce did to Marion in the 03 WCF. And Tony historically has held his own against the 12-time MVP, so it's not like that's a bad matchup. And if Vaughn ends up on him for 5 minutes a game, Nash won't abuse him.

I think it'll come down to Parker on Nash and Bowen on Marion. The only way it won't is if Marion never gets rolling.

Isn't it a given that Parker is good when he's aggressive?

BTW, what was with all the whining? Damn. It's like the old days out there. There were some bad calls, but they went both ways. The crybabies were out in force, regardless.

whining by Spurs players? didn't notice much of that today. Only Bowen's antics for a little. but that was not bad.

It's the Suns who were crying like es. D'antoni looked like he himself

    because they were beyond pathetic.

The fouls on elson and bowen tonight were just plain horrid.
