I am proudly wrong. He may be an NBA player yet.
I was wrong. I think James White over the last couple games and especially tonight has really bought into the Spurs system and is playing well. I think he's finally matured some and he's making good decisions. He's showing it's not all about him.

Because he hit a couple of jumpers?
It's against the Blazers. Enough said.
No, actually he's played within the scheme of things the last 3 games he's played. That in and of itself impresses me. The James White I knew was a selfish immature me first bas and it seems like they've beaten that out of him down in SA. So we'll see.![]()
2 cents worth here, not to forget that shove and fall he took last game, I think, although he had no reason to be, he was embarrased that it happened on tv and in front of a big crowd of fans, you could see the resentment smouldering in his eyes while he made his free throws, you just never know what motivates a player to cross that line over to elevating their game to another level. But it does take time. Lucky that White comes to a team that pulls for it's younger and less experienced players, a mix of vets and seasoned playoff tested teachers of team ball.
well i always root for new spurs to do well and im excited about the possibilities with this young man...hopefully be a little bit of what sean elliott once was
How could you even draw an opinon on this guy when he just got some pt about 3 games ago for the first time?
That's the fun of it, man, it's just opinions but when one of those opinions gets proven as fact, it's a great excuse to go get another sixpack![]()
watching that jwhite thread with his top of the backboard hops does remind how sean would elivate back in the day
Yup Bartender!
He has some potential.

Like it's about player potential, things that aren't quite evident yet and take a lot of studying. Who has the time? If you like those sort of things, you can tell just by body language, 5 minutes into the game, what that player is going to play like the rest of the night, Even the way the team looks and moves, same thing. There are some here that don't notice the little things and differences White or any of the other late game players have had over the past 3 games. We root for the new ones cause there's plenty of potential. Over the years we get our letdowns, players that don't fit in the system and fade away. Anyone know where Linton Johnson is, did he reach his potential, he and others went on to other teams and weren't heard from again, and we thought we were out of the media lights.
Don't get me wrong, my personal take.......that boy's hungry.
If we don't get him, LA will.
Lots of spotlights in Hollywood, he and big brother Kobe.
, I wouldn't like that, especially after we've broken him in.
But that's just me, wanting another Sean, fun to watch and having the skills to rub it in like Gervin used to with that little laugh of his...........
Because I've known James for years.
James played excellent positional defense and he hustled. Another good game for keeping the offense flowing with quick passes and cutting. He wasn't spectacular but he played within the system and only had one lapse by not helping from the weak side on an open layup.
I am happy to cheer for him. He's fun to watch.
One day when the opposing player guarding him actually knows who he is we might see how he reacts to being given space to shoot. He looks like he has the confidence though to not shy away from any aspect of the game and that's a very very good sign.
I guess the Lakers will have a couple of spots open, but they might have plans for Sean Banks, who is their D-League team's best player and who has been playing the triangle for four months now.
One way to look at it is, why can't he become the next Bowen? A defensive specialist who scores on occasion.
BTW, White still lacks consistency of the fundamentals on his shooting stroke. The 3-pointer he made, he squared-up pretty well but on his miss from the corner he failed to square his shoulders with the basket. He looks better than he used to look, however.
I suppose we're hoping he could be more than that given his abilities.
I agree, I want him to be more than that, I was just offering up another way to look at his future here.
I hope he makes the playoff roster.
I did look at him from a defense standpoint first; I said that was the impression I got in Austin.
has anyone not seen this cheap shot bs?
