Actually, yeah it does mean something. They still have some sort of a chance to get the #2 seed if they win out and Suns lose 2.
Some people see that game as being a statement game, because playoffs are coming up, but it's not the big picture ; if Mavs and Spurs meet in the playoffs, it's gonna be something else
If we lose tomorrow, it's no big deal, and I won't be worried
If we win tomorrow, fine, but we haven't done anything yet
What about you?

Yeah it means a lot because the Spurs still have a slight chance to overtake Phoenix for the second seed. They both have three games left. This is a big game.
They're not catching Phoenix.
The game has marginal meaning. If Dallas sits some guys out, then it REALLY means squat.
If the Jazz game was any indication, the Mavs won't be playing to win.
With the Suns still to play @Jazz and @Rockets, the Spurs could still be playing for tie-breaker and second seed and HCA vs Suns. I suppose the Suns will be playing to defend their 2nd seed/HCA (ie, they won't be sitting Nash and Amare in those 2 games).
I expect the Spurs would like to have HCA, but it's hard to say whether they will really play for it.
The Spurs screwed up losing to Celts, Bucks, Pacers.

The game will be pretty basic as both coaches are going to hide stuff. So we won't have a glimpse at what playoff matchups will be used, etc. But I guess since they can still catch Phoenix, they won't sit everyone.
The Suns magic number to clinch the #2 seed is 2. Until that magic number has been attained, every game the Spurs play is one that they need to win. There are some clear benefits at this point to being the #2 seed.
Somehow, I also don't think that Pop is that put off that his team is having to play meaningful games this late into the regular season. It's a fine line -- he definitely wants to avoid injuries and get some guys some rest; but playing games with meaning this late into the sesaon shoudl pay some dividends at least early on in the playoffs.
Suns play in Utah and in Houston. Both of them are playoff teams, they could lose to them. They also play the LA Clippers in their last game, they will be fighting to get a playoff spot.
They will beat the Clippers and get the 2 seed.
, more than likely theyll beat the Jazz tonight.
I don't care about this game. We will win them in the playoffs.
Ask this again after tonight's Phx-Utah game. However it winds up playing out, you'll get your answer.
All the game against the t-wolves meant was that Spurs fans are poor losers, that we rejoice in beating the crap out of a team who gives almost a 20 point game to Matt Bonner. And we are damn proud of it.
what does that have to do with the game against Dallas![]()
And besides we did what we were suppose to do against a team without their leader, and resting our starters for the most part.
I hope we win the Dallas game, but unless Phoenix loses then it really doesnt matter too much.
I said it once and I said it again: Id rather play the Nuggets than the Lakers. I dont know why but I just have the indication Kobe's gonna torch us and Phil has always done good against the Spurs.
For me, Id love to take that #3 seed just for the first round.
It means that I read the thread le, missed the word Sunday, my "brain" automatically filled it with "Friday" (twolves), and now I feel like an idiot.what does that have to do with the game against Dallas
Oops.
If Phoenix beats Utah, then it's time to shut it down until the playoffs. Otherwise, the Spurs will have a great shot at #2, since Phoenix has to play Houston (on the road) and the Clippers. The Clippers' playoff lives will likely be determined by that Phoenix game, so you know they're coming out hungry for that.
Im always happy when we beat the Mavs regardless
Its all good, you just confused the out me talking about the T-pups.![]()
I think the Spurs need to try to win it. Even if the Mavs aren't trying, the Spurs just need to lay the wood to them. Maybe it will plant a small seed of doubt in the Mavs or perhaps give the Spurs a little confidence for down the line.
The worst thing that could happen is the Mavs scrubs beat the Spurs, even if the Spurs are only halfway trying.
One thing to think about, however, is that the Mavs may actually try to win it. The Mavs know that the Spurs would give them their toughest test in the postseason. Why not try to help PHX win the second seed?
Plus, if you are AJ, you don't want your team going like two weeks without a meaningful game before the playoffs. Going all out against the Spurs still gives them time to rest.
So yeah, AJ may use this as the final tuneup for the playoffs.
Um, OK...if you say so.![]()
Come on guys, its MAVERICKS VS SPURS. I don't care if its the Mavs bench vs the Spurs bench, any Dallas vs SA game is big.
Give Utah credit. Howard and Nowitzki both played 30 minutes in that game. Utah had already won 101-79 and lost another game to Dallas by 3 points. It was about Utah playing well.
If it is just the Mavs bench playing, and the Spurs lose, that will be a blow to the Spurs whether we realize it or not. So they need to win, even if its meaningless, and especially if Dirk and Howard are sitting.
I wish CIA Pop would sit Timmy, Manu and Tony and leave it up to the rest of the team to win it. The game is meaningless at this point as it is extremely unlikely PHX loses the next two games. Play Beno, White and Ely alot and give more time to Horry and Barry to get back into playoff form.
Interesting, never thought about it like that. I highly doubt the Mavs will be playing to win but i guess its a possibility.
Mavs have a small seed of doubt already. They hurt the Spurs last year with a Harris and Terry combo. No Nick Van Suckage this year to exploit. Spurs can throw Vaughn into the mix and Vaughn 2007 >>>>> Van Suckage 2006. And then there's Elson. Wonder if Pop will show that hand much on Sunday.
Well if the Suns clinch the second seed than they are likely to rest their players against the Clippers. In that case I hope the Mavs beat the Spurs.
