He made a few interesting comments. The most enlightening has been "If Crawford's actions had been against a scrub player (and not a star like Duncan), would the same suspension have occured?"

To which Stern said quite calmly and simply: "Yes"

Yea, Stern said that they were going to schedule a time to discuss Crawford's future with the league. However, Stern believes that "that no longer interests [Crawford]"

I may be in the minority, but I hope Crawford is back next season. He's usually a pretty decent ref. Take away his calls against Duncan and he's probably one of the best.

If he can get over whatever issue he has with Duncan, I hope he's let back in and decides to pick back up the whistle.

Unlikely, considering how much pride he has.

I hope so too, I dont have any problem with him now that this has been addressed. It really just seems from what Sterm said that he just has way to much pride to come back. I hope we see him in the league again, but I doubt we will.

that. I never could stand his sorry ass and his power trips. I would take a hundred Steve Javies over one JC any day.

He made it sound like he was hanging it up in an e-mail to the media saying, "Nobody feel sorry for me, I've had a good run..."

At his age he is simply unable to swallow his pride, which is one of the top three or four prerequisites of his job. He hasn't made an adjustment to this era of players and has just gotten grumpier and grumpier as the years have gone on.

If he refuses to get counseling then it's time for him to retire.

I gaurantee if Kobe got t'd up twice in the same instance that TD did, it would be Kobe being suspended...not the other way around. I'm happy for the ref being suspended, no doubt....but it's a double standard.

you ever heard of Golotta? he was one of the best boxers but couldn't control himself, so he didn't belong on the ring.

same thing with JC. he might be a brilliant official but he doesn't belong on the court. not anymore.

I agree with you, timvp. When Joey puts his agendas aside, he's generally an excellent official, among the very best who've called games in recent years. When he's just calling games, he's almost always in the right position and rarely misses an important call (Game 3 of the Dallas/San Antonio series last year is an obvious exception).
