gs will not win the series so this thread is pretty much moot
I have predicted here in another thread that the Mavs will lose in round one of the NBA playoffs to the GSW.
Don Nelson is in AJ's head. He knows how to push AJ's buttons. The Mavs are going to be tight at and afraid of every shot. The Warriors will be loose as a goose and will win the series in six games.
All year long, we have been innundated about how determined the Mavs are to avenge their NBA Finals loss (just like the Pistons were the year before, yawn.)
Let us look to the day that the Dallas County Supervisor gets the call on the Batphone--
Suspend all future planning meetings for the Mav Finals Championship Parade--the chumps lose in the first round to the GSW.
Camera crews descend into Dallas in more numbers than they did in the Bahamas chasing Anna Nicole Smith's cold dead corpse--capturing the wholesale wailing and grieving Mav fans as they begin drinking kool-aid to put themselves out of their misery as they are forced to watch Tim Duncan hoist Trophy Number 4 with Manu, Tony, and Michael Finley.
Fin Dog breaks down and says he feels like a kid again--being in San Antonio has made him young again-although he is disappointed the Mavs got beat so early in the play offs that he never had a chance to show Cubes that he (Finley) would be the first former Mav to get a ring.
THat is just a start.

but honestly, if they choked against GS i'd look into moving guys like Stack, Dampier, and Terry and try rebuilding a new supporting cast around Dirk/Howard. Maybe keep Harris too but not much else beyond that.

Not to get off track--but imho--a little league team would have defeated the Mavs in the finals last year the way the refs sent the Heat to the line every time they breathed on Wade.
Don't get me wrong--I loved watching it--every minute--loved seeing AJ cry like a ing baby--blow his lid--Josh Howard calling his stupid timeout--evrything--I loved every minute.
But you gotta admit--the refs settled that series before the Mavs ever got on the floor.

Why do some people think that Dallas will lose to GS?
They had some pretty bad calls against them, but the Mavs had plenty and plenty of opportunites to close off the Heat. The choke job in the late 4th quarter of Game 3 foreshadowed the ultimate one. Also, if the Mavs were so great, why didn't they win Game 6 and force a Game 7? Terry missed a fairly open three to send the game into overtime, Howard called a dumb timeout. To be honest, I think Dallas probably would have made the GW if he had not called that timeout. Anyways, don't add fuel to some of the Mavs fans' pathetic fire.
They would probably not talk to us for a little while. Some of them would put an asterisk by any team that won the le this year.
