    TP Interview about Duncan ejection...
    http://www.tp9.net/en/itw.php?id=175

Tony, San Antonio is still looking towards the playoffs…

With our loss in Dallas, we cannot catch up with Phoenix in the second place of the Western Conference. Pop thus decided to rest some of us (Ginobili and Duncan) in the game against Memphis. This loss in Memphis means nothing. Now, in order to keep our rhythm we shall see the full team for the last game of the season against Denver, our first round opponent. I do not know how Pop plans on handling the game.

On Sunday you’ve lost in Dallas, 91-86. Before talking about Duncan’s ejection, what did you think about this game ?

We should have won this game but I must speak about Tim. It is too bad that the referee took this bizarre decision. It is the first time in my career that I see a player being ejected because he laughed on the bench. I was laughing with him and Horry. I still cannot get over it. The result was that we’ve played the entire fourth quarter without our best player. The game was truncated.

In which state of mind did you play this game ?

On paper it was a good opposition a week from the playoffs but we wished not to show too much of our game. It was a good practice with a lot of intensity. Of course we would have liked to leave with a win especially since we’ve led for a while. We still had a two points lead with three minutes to go.

In the last minute, Manu Ginobili lost a very important ball. What were Pop’s decisions for handling this ball ?

I will surprise you but there was none. It was out of the question to give Dallas a glimpse of our systems for handling the last seconds of games. We keep everything for the playoffs. I am now eager to be on Sunday and to play our first game against Denver. The season is long and it is now time for playoffs to start.

Interviewer typically tried to bait Tony into a little Tony-Manu drama. He wisely steered clear of it.

They actually don't have any problems and get along very, very well. But some reporters try to create some controversy that they don't get along.

Jeter supported Giambi when all the controversy around his steroid use was floating around NY, but he was pretty silent when A-Rod went through that string of rough games (including the one game where he had 3 errors)

Why would reporters want controversy between, specifically, Parker and Ginobili?

I'm not talking about local reporters. But sometimes the international reporters (on both sides) try to stir things up.

I see; I'm just wondering why they'd want to do that. Isn't winning good enough?

Just the tabloid factor I guess. They try to think Manu hates Tony and thinks he doesn't pass to him. And Tony hates Manu for I don't know what. It's just gossip b.s.

This interview is a transcription of the TP show.
The question wasn't ask by a reporter but by a french fan and the transcription sucks.
When they transcript TP show on parker's website, they often shorten sentences and turn a speaken style into a written style. In this case, and it's not the first time, it changes the meaning of a question.

The real question is the following :
"Wouldn't it be smart to change systems for the end of the games. Manu had a turnover at the end of the game because opponents know that he will often has the ball at the end of the game. Wouldn't it be interesting to change systems at the end of close games like that ?"

As you cand read, it's more "Spurs should have more options for the end of a game to surprise opponents" than "Manu sucks in crunch time, Pop should give the ball to TP"

I think Ludden tries to stir the pot every now and then if Manu hasn't had a game with a lot of shots and Tony was too shot happy.

Ludden and Harvey are admitted Manu homers. The only player Ludden likes to rag on more than Parker is Butler.
