I may be old or something but I always thought the word "band" in music meant a group with instruments. If I were in a band (rock, marching,etc.) I'd be offended by a group of vocalists calling themselves a band.

He had some type of cancer and beat it then got sick again. He didn't die from the cancer itself, but a a lung collapsed while he was sleeping. I kept the article in Teen People about it for my high school scrapbook, so I just double checked. (Not off of pure memory)

That's why today's musical performers are called "artists". They don't fit into the "band" category and they don't fit into the "musician" category because most can't write their own music or perform their own music live (at least without the help of auto-tune, backing track, or pure lip synching). They're simply, "artists".
