WHOA! Mi barrio primero! Yah, there...I admitted it. I grew up in that area. Just makes me prouder of where I've taken myself but am intrigued by what's happening in my old hood. Any info greatly appreciated![]()
I was in that area yesterday and saw that the old Albertson's building is being renovated. Does anyone know what they're putting there?

I don't know what they are putting there but Clark is being completely redone, I think they are making the road wider. Probably for the traffic going to whatever they are renovating.
I hope they make it into a big taco stand.
probobly another dollar store or bank.
Just what the southside needs...
That building seems too big for a dollar store. Hopefully it will be something good. The SE side is expanding very nicely.
ya clark sucks balls now.
good thing i only drive around there a couple times a week on weekends.
nice to see them find some use for that old store, hopefully whatever they put there doesnt suck.
My money's on Flea Market
I may be wrong, but I think someone told that it was going to be a Boys and Girls club or something like that.
Whaaaaaaaat? Mr San Antonio doesn't know?!?!!?!?
i hope they make it into a big church... those people could use some more religion and stuff.
Those people?![]()
i knew someone would bite.
thanks.
If it is a boys and girls club, I hope they give more information.
I have some sporting goods, and some old recliners and couches they could use.
Good stuff if true![]()
There used to be (among other things) a drug store and soda fountain where that old Albertson's sits. I used to ride my bike up from the house and buy a nickel ice cream cone, or was it a dime? My mom still lives there with my older brother there to look after her. I'm flying into town for the day tomorrow so will try to remember to ask her.
Highland Hills Pharmacy, that was it. Lots of good times there, not to mention the Ben Franklin 5-and-dime that was next door.
Pisses me off that Albertsons builds these boxes everywhere and then leaves them sitting empty a couple of years later. All sorts of them up here in Dallas now. Hope they can turn it into something good for those folks ... and good to see that the developers have finally realized that the money of people on the SE side spends just like it does for everyone else in SA.
They are slowly but surely finding uses for them. There is one on 281 somewhere around the St. Marys exit that is a church. The one in U.C. @Pat Booker/1604 is a campus of one of the local community colleges.
I was going to mention that. My friend goes to the Pat Booker campus. I might take a class or two there this summer.![]()

Oh man...old Albertson's. Renovation. I gotta see pics man. My paw's just itchin' to rub one out.
INCREDIBLE PIZZA is off the chain, i had my sons birthday there last month, a decent buffet bar, good ass cinnamon rolls and pretty fun go karts, putt putt, and games, yes it was an old albertsons
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and what i really liked about this place as opposed to petter pipers is that for once all the rides work and unlike these new chucky cheeses these one are spacious
Yeah, it's just that when you look at the duplexes across from Highland Hills Elementary and get an idea of who and what I saw as a kid, it makes me proud to say that my master bedroom is bigger than both living units off Menlo St. I think you should be able to pat yourself on the back if you accomplished something on your own. If you were born into money I think that it's absurd to flaunt it. It's like those people who brag cuz they're tall...LIKE IT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!
