    Yep, most people just assume that it was the Red Sox.

    That was a damn good Birds team, went wire-to-wire in the regular season. They had Jimmy Key, Moose, Erickson, Ripken, Brady Anderson, Palmeiro, Alomar, Eric Davis, etc.

    Nope, jeffrey maier (to this day i hate that kid) was 1996. Evidently, cheating gets you a box seat next to Steinbrenner and an appearance on good morning America.

    i remember that. must have been heartbreaking for the birds, because if i remember correctly, all their losses in the ALCS were by 1 run.

    They were dominating Cleveland until the 8th inning of game 2. Then Benitez had his meltdown. Birds never quite recovered.
