Spurs: Make the easy layups and wide-open jumpers
Nuggets: Hope the Spurs miss the easy layups and wide-open jumpers (see game 1)

Denver: bench production, Kleiza and JR Smith may be able to score more in front of the home crowd.

San Antonio: 3-point shooting and minimizing turnovers ... on the road, teams need to shoot well and not turn the ball over.

For the Spurs: They've got to continue to improve on rebounds on both ends. They need to be more efficient offensively and answer every point. Continue to dictate the pace of the game. Continue to stay calm and professional. Continue to drive inside and create opportunities (the jump shots should follow). Do not, in a difficult stretch, rely on jumpshooting. Do what is possible to force AI outside and try not to allow Melo the ball on the perimeter.

For the Nuggets: Need to step up and dictate the pace of the game. Melo and AI can continue to take as many shots as they are, but if the pace remains largely slow and half-court, they are disallowing other players the opportunity to get involved (note: I am not claiming they are selfish ball hogs - but if you have 20 posessions and the two of them are shooting on 14 of them, that's only 6 left to go around. If you can force 30 possessions in the same amount of time, then there are suddenly 16 possessions to go around and more of their role players can get involved). Nuggets need to do more at the defensive side than pack the lanes if the Spurs are going to insist on driving. If they set a faster pace in the game, they can also increase the odds of steals which could benefit them. They need to stop the turnovers.

On the whole, I am encouraged by the Spurs play last night, and remain confident they can win the series. But they still have a lot of room for improvement, and if the Nuggets adjust (as is expected in a home arena), then the Spurs will need to be at their most efficient and ruthless.

Nuggets: Better production from their bench. Their starters are playing a LOAD of minutes.

    S.Blake 34:38
    A.Iverson 44:30
    Nené 36:22
    C.Anthony 44:05
    M.Camby 38:40

Man. Those dudes are going to get worn out.

Spurs: As goes Tim Duncan, so goes the Spurs. Manu needs to drive to the basket and stop trying to hit threes. NO ELSON

I believe the spurs will play better in Denver. Overall they are a much better road team. Game three will be pivotal and Manu plays better on the road and they still don’t have an answer for him despite his mediocre performances..

I wish the Spurs starters were playing 38-40 minutes. When it's a very important game like last night, that could make or break the season, I hate to see starters playing only 33 minutes.

Darrin, they have no bench. Their most productive bench player Smith has looked like a lost little puppy on the court so far, and Kleiza hasnt been able to hit anything, maybe that will change in Denver

True, but I don't know if our 40 year olds can go that long. I definitely hate when Tim and Tony are both sitting at the same time. Everyone just stands around and waits for Manu to do something.

I don't think guys named J.R. can play ball. Here's an excellent example
