Isn't he the guy who kept changing how he wanted people to pronounce his name a few seasons back?
Why do all the announcers pronounce Nenę's name as nuh-NAY? It sounds ridiculous.
It's NAY-nay. Just like it's pronounced in Spanish. In Portugese, the hat over the e means it's part of an unemphasized syllable. If it was spelled Nené then it would be pronounced nay-NAY. But it's not.
Every single announcer pronounces his name like this.
Isn't he the guy who kept changing how he wanted people to pronounce his name a few seasons back?
I just wish dude would go back to using his last name - Hillario.
After all, who does he think he is anyway - Pele?
I thought it was pronounced Shanaynay

I was just thinking that Darrin when i read the first sentance.
Uh UH SHANAYNAY![]()
Nobody pronounce's Dirk's name right either...they say No-Vit-zki instead of No-WIT-ski...![]()
See and I never have any trouble associating No- wit with Dirk.
P.S. I really don't dislike you Dirk- just your horrible team.
Isn't it pronouced like the word "Dirt", but with a "k" ?
There's this new exercize I'm going to try out. I think it's called jogging... or maybe yogging, yogging, it might be a soft J. And apparently you just run, for an extended period of time!
Nevermind, I really should read better.
Umm...I'm pretty sure No-VIT-ski is correct; or maybe we all aren't pronunciation WUHN-der-kunds like you...?
Well Dirk pronounces it No-WIT-ski. I'm guessing he should know.

Oh, man ...![]()
It's seems as if the poor guy has repudiated his rich linguistic heritage to come lose basketball games in big ol' America.![]()
Oh no!
It's the Oooodrah thread all over again

NO KIDDING?!?
I always thought the correct way to pronouce Dirk's name was "vitski"
Well now this just throws everything out the door.
Is Horry, " E? or is it "OAR E"
I always thought that the w in German made the v sound, but I guess my German lessons were money not well spent
So I take it Martin's alter ego spelled it Shanenę?
No, he thinks he´s brazilian. Almost every brazilian athlete is known for his first name or a nickname. It´s not something just reserved to the big ones like Pelé.
Few examples: Romário, Kaká, Robinho, Guga (Gustavo Kuerten), Giba (volley), etc.
Plus, his last name would sound a bit bizarro in the USA and Brazil (Hilário). :P
So brazilians have an overinflated selfworth?
Got it.
Leandrinho will become official when he wins the 6th Man award.![]()
Since we're on the topic, don't most people mispronounce Pelé as well? It´s not something just reserved to the big ones like Pelé.
I always hear it pronounced Pelę.
The German pronunciation would be NoVitski. My last name is German but we don't pronounce the W as a V as it really should be. So in short, both names have been Americanized.
We call NeNe Nee Nee...because we can!
My point was really that DIRK pronounces it with the W sound and always has.
He clearly says it on this video for example.
