That's exactly who's going to cover Nash.
Should Bowen start Game 1 on Steve Nash? He did such an amazing job on him during the last game we played the Suns in the regular season, it seems like it's worth at least a shot.
One thing I've noticed about Nash: His lateral mobility is limited. Going straight ahead or changing directions he's impossibly mobile... some of the best body control I've ever seen. However, moving side-to-side is not his forte, and it's something that Bowen excels at. Since Bowen has the hands and feet to stay active and watch the ball, I think Steve will continue to struggle heavily against Bowen if we go with that matchup.
The bonus is that if they try to switch off, we have several guards that can at least keep him occupied while our defense is rotating.
Should be a great series.![]()
That's exactly who's going to cover Nash.
Bowen will be on Marion. Parker will cover Nash.
Bowen cant guard Marion
i think just stick bowen on marion for first 3 quarters
then chuck him on nashfinal quarter
i think finley/ginoboli/tp/brent barry will do okay defending whoever is playin PG/SG/SF...
what has marion did against the spurs in the postseason
Marion has had issues in the playoffs but this year will be different.
lets just put bowen on amare and call it in 4!!!!!!
GO BRUCE !!!! DO YO THANG BOOOOOOY!
Are you a new Suns fan?
Have you watched the Spurs play the Suns in recent years?
Bowen always guards Marion and owns him.
Anyway, same topic is already here:

Go back and watch the '05 playoffs.
I've got it on Beta if you need it.![]()
Shawn Marion
Against Spurs/Bowen in the 2005 playoffs: 7.8 ppg on 39%.
(Over the first two rounds he had averaged over 22ppg on over 50% shooting
Thats the past besides bowen has lost a step.
No, not really.
Go back to being a Laker fan.
Mouse is now a Suns fan.
Not every poster is Mouse. People are so crazy.
wow, the series hasn't even started and the trolls are in full effect
Says the fan whose superstar can barely sit while waiting on the bench.
Bowen has done a good job on Marion but Marion missed a lot of easy shots in '05.
Also, It wasn't well known that Marion injured his wrist during a dunk over Finley at the end of game 6 against the Mavs that year.
Not that this is an excuse or changes anything, Bowen has nullified Marion (and everyone else) pretty well in the past and I don't expect that to change much.
But he can't guard everyone.![]()
Put Bowen on Leandro Barbosa!!!!!!!!!
OMG you just had a good take.
This almost always works. Marion never gets into the flow of the game, and the groove Nash gets into in the first three quarters gets disrupted, so the Suns struggle to score in the fourth.
The wrinkle the Suns will have to try is a lot of Nash and Barbosa on the floor at the same time. They also will have to play Kurt Thomas a lot as opposed to Boris Diaw, because Thomas has shown at least a little success in slowing down Tim Duncan.
Sun fan should remember that the Tim Duncan that eliminated their team in 5 games two years ago did so on two sprained ankles, and had very limited agility with his feet. He will be a tougher matchup this time.
