The new rules in place prevent the team with the second best record in the conference from falling to the 4 seed. They don't reset match-ups after the first round.
I thought it was to have the best seeds meet up at the conference finals??
Like last yr with the Spurs and Mavs. Remind me why the 2nd and 3rd seed will play each other while the 4/5 play the 8th seed?
In what way which way will the new rule come into effect?

Of course, an 8 seed beating a one seed throws the whole thing out of whack anyway.
it's a TV thing. they don't want every team to have wait for every series to be completed to schedule/prepare the next match-ups.
with the nhl's tv 'deal', they can do whatever they want.
