He's more than welcome to make the short trip to San Antonio and receive it during our Western Conference Semifinals against Phoenix. We'll give it to him pre-game or at halftime -- he even gets to choose!
if it's Dirk...what does the NBA do now? It's always been given out during a playoff game as best I can remember.

I'm guessing they ask him if he wants to be part of a MVP presentation and if he declines it will just be announced.
If I were him, I'd man up and accept the trophy in public.
might as well just give it to Kobe at this point
It will be given to him at a press conference.
...in a giant pink bunny suit.
maybe Manu will let him borrow his Tigger outfit and Spidey-Man scivies..
They can't give it to him now. I don't care how the voting went down.
Maybe this will finally prompt the NBA to stop giving awards during the playoffs. It is wrong for so many reasons. It is a distraction for the winning team, it is fire for the team they are playing against, and it can be potentially embarrassing to the players who get it... either it comes right after the regular season for all awards, or it goes after the season is over, in June.
It is a regular season award. But they didn't give it to the best player on the best team in the past, why does it matter now?
What happens if Dirk does not win the MVP after all. Would you think
Stern and Jackson manipulated the ballots?![]()
You going to call Ralph Nader.................????![]()
It would be the icing on the cake if Dirk was denied that too!![]()
I'd rather not get the MVP if I were him. It'll only add his name again to the history books in a bad way.
First #1 to lose to a #8 in a 7 game series
and
Added to the list of MVP's to lose in the first round.
