Memphis at home is not so-so
I didn't know Duncan was a good, clutch 3-point shooter until the Spurs' final play last night.
I wonder who drew that one up.
And if you don't want to blame Pop for a poor play with the game on the line, blame Parker for d1cking around and tossing it to Duncan for a forced 3.
Awful.
It's strange that the Spurs few losses this year have come at the hands of so-so teams.
Memphis at home is not so-so
team loss. i didn't like the TD 3 pointer either, but what was the lineup on the last play? i was a few drinks to the wind by that time....
Wait a minute - isn't it past the usual time for Marcus to post reminding all of us that he has Ghost on ignore?
he has made a three before in a game though
everyone was to blame for the loss last night
Spurs should have never been in that situation in the first place
the blame starts at the top Pop and Duncan once again took second half of the game off and the rest of the team followed their leadership
duncan shooting a 3 to win is not a good shot with 5 seconds with the likes of ginobili, bowen, barry, even parker on the team.
I remember Tim The Man Duncan making a long shot over an outstretched Shaq before the 0.4 robbery. Don't ever go against him and he shoots frequently top of key all net = 3 pointer not that much longer! TD has the "stones" to take the shot good or bad! Also, Memphis always a dangerous team and teams sometimes more dangerous when they lose a star for 1-2 games.
MadDoc
Tim may have the stones, but let's be honest - he doesn't have the range.
And he shouldn't even be thinking about that shot with 6 seconds to go and Manu on one wing and Barry on the other.
Stupid.
Memphis was without Pau Gasol and James Posey, both starters. They were worse than so-so.
Granted there are far better 3 shooters, as Duncan is not usually called upon to hit a 3
However, don't discount his potential range - I am not saying it was the best choice or even top 3-4 choice, but it was and is not implausible! His stroke, take the shot at ude, and strength are enough to give him a chance on any shot!
MadDoc
And we all know that the history of sports has never shown us that teams rally around each other when they lose a star, and never produce surprising results as a result of it.
Tony Parker could have taken the three but instead he passed it to Duncan and he had no choice to put it up time was running out.
Dear Portland Fan when is your franchise going to turn around?
Obviously no one drew up the play that way; the Spurs just didn't execute. That's on Parker and Duncan. But for the record, Duncan threw up the ill-advised shot with two seconds remaining -- not five or six as mentioned in this thread.
mmmmmm this.... kitty scratches, purrrrrrrrrrfect!
Exactly, Memphis played good D and Duncan had to force the three.Obviously no one drew up the play that way; the Spurs just didn't execute
True dat.
The .003 pass to Barry was less than inspirational also.
Tony was caught up in trying to out-duel Watson and J-Will and when they pressured the ball, like they always do every time they play the Spurs, Tony played right into their hands in the 2nd half. The Spurs really got out played, out-coached, out-toughed, out-physicalled, out-hustled, out-big-shotted, etc. etc. etc.
If you watch the replay, the play was actually for Robert Horry. Parker was looking for him but instead of setting a pick, Duncan stayed high and Parker was forced to pass it to him.
But it's not like Horry was going to hit that shot anyways.
horry had a better shot then duncan
Yet, somehow, I'd feel better about losing had Horry at least had the chance . . . or Barry . . . or Manu . . . or Parker . . . .But it's not like Horry was going to hit that shot anyways.
wow....so we had TP and Duncan on the floor with Manu, Barry, and Horry.
TP has the ball to start and passed to TD for the 3. That sucks.![]()
the didn't execute is an understatement....and i'd rather have devin out there instead of horry.
I did not even realize that Gasol did not play because I just caught the 4th quarter. Damn, the Spurs really suck if they can not win with the teams superstar on the court.
Spurs have another try with same scenario tomorrow night against a Dirkless Dallas
