Hopefully he will show up in game 6 then
I was discussing Brent Barry in another thread when I accidentally stumbled upon perhaps the most tellings stats in the history of civilization.
I've often said that the only thing that holds Brent Barry back is his timidness. When he's not playing scared, he's a fantastic bench player. When he's playing scared, he's a huge liability.
To best see how a player reacts to adversity and whether they shrivel up and get timid or fight through it is by looking at what they do on the road. On the road, it's the five players on the court versus the world. It's not a situation for the meek.
Now this is what I've stumbled upon:
Hopefully he will show up in game 6 then
Good thing the next game is at home.
Pop gets an F for not playing him more minutes at home....
And I don't want to here about two years ago. This is 2007 and it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league.
If Barry can't produce on the road, Pop should just stick to playing Barry at the friendly confines of the AT&T Center.
Ever in his career? Ever against the Suns? Ever this year?

That was the biggest game of Barry's career...it came on the road, against this team, in game 1.
13 pts in the 4th...5-5.
It's good to see fairweatherVP tries hard to be objective.
Aka I don't want to read things that destroy the statiscal fluke I've found.
Hey...you're the one saying the Suns aren't going to guard him now...not me.
He's not getting left open from 3 as much as Manu is.
Chuck B. said the stars star home and away, but the role players often disappear on the road.
So 1 game makes up for all of his other liabilities and ty ass games? Nice logic. 1 game defines a player!
When did I say that? The Suns guard him now, that's why he doesn't score on the road.
I don't know how you guys contest the fact that this year, in playoffs, he hasn't scored one point outside AT&T Center.
Yes, I was happy about his road game against the Suns in 2005 too. But what's with this season?
Fluke?
What's the statistically likelihood that out of ten games, with five at home and five on the road, that one would blindly pick the five road games?
I'm sure some math whiz can come up with that answer for you.

Barry was playing great before his back spasms curtailed his rythm... Much like all shooters Barry is a rhythm player.... it's just unfortunate that he hasn't found that groove yet.
Having said that, I'd rather see more Barry than Vaughn.... Barry has been the best post feeder when on the strong side of 4th down plays.
brent barry gets loved because he has a hot wife not because he plays well on road!
I'm on whottt side
yup
Yes, Fluke.
Barry has only hit more than 1 shoot in one game this year.
This thread remains me your "Ginobili sucks on the road during playoffs" thread while Manu has been better on the road than at home since you made it.![]()
Last season vs. Dallas he was nowhere to be found also
I'm hoping that whottt and Brent Barry own me in this thread. If this thread gets bumped, I'll be the happiest poster here.
But when I watch him and he looks scared on the road and then I check the numbers and it's even worse than I could ever imagine, Barry deserves to be called out.
This is about winning championships. Not pretending player's don't have weaknesses.
Like that time, I'm only pointing out the stats. Don't hate the messenger. I'm not the one 0-fer the playoffs on the road.
If Barry bounces back, I'll gladly eat crow.
No, you aren't only pointing stats.
You are pointing stats and drawing a conclusion : "Barry Gets Scared".
Aren't you yet?
Statistically speaking, there is a 0.4% chance of this happening by chance, if my math is right.
So yeah, Barry isn't getting scared on the road, it's just a mathematical accident![]()
