It's a pivotal closeout game that could very well determine the NBA champion.

I drove 18 miles from my house to downtown this morning right down I-10 and didn't see a single Spurs flag.

    Whats up with that?

They are worried about retribution by a whacko Suns' fan. They might be run off the road by some disgruntled sun- baked Suns' fan who blames the Spurs for 37 years of playoff failures.

San Antonio is Dallas-occupied territory. Until we release them from the chains of our dominance, they are not allowed to fly the colors.

I think because honestly we don't want to see what happened last year again. Lose in a game 7 in the second round for a second straight year.

We need something to be different this year -- since 2003, the Spurs are only 4-4 in closeout games at home. If you just consider games past the first round, the Spurs are 2-4 in home closeout games over that time. Among those losses is the Game 4 loss in 2005 to the Suns.

I guess the trucks that have 20 Spurs stickers on the windows don't count. I"m a fan but some people go a little crazy. I do however like those Spurs people are putting on the back of cars. Similar to the Longhorn a lot of people have.

while i don't see the car flags much anymore, i do see much more spurs gear being worn by people here in the past week than say during the denver series.

You can tell this is false merely by looking at the relative dearth of fake s and facelifts in SA.

I have no decorations anywhere, and the only Spurs clothing I have is a cap, which I only wear in the offseason.

Spurs loose if I put up any Spurs stuff

Thanks for posting that. I honestly would have though the Spurs faired much better than that.

I noticed and mention the same thing to buddy at work yesterday about the Phoenix fans. I remember back in the Barkley era there was so much fan fare around town. Flags, signs, paiting on cars. It is still there but not near the amount that we saw back then. That was the NBA Finals and this is only the 2nd round so I am sure a lot of has to do with the bandwagon fans not jumping on yet because this isn't a championship series in the real sense. I believe the winner of this series is going to be hoisting the trophy this year.

At least I hope so and if not either of these teams it better be the Jazz. I can't live with another East team winning the championship.

Well, the broader number is a bit more impressive. Since the start of the 2003 playoffs, the Spurs are 11-4 in close-out games. That means that they're 4-4 in home close-out games and 7-0 in road close-out games.

For whatever it's worth, during that time, there is only one instance in which the Spurs had a close-out game and didn't end up winning the series -- the 2006 series against Dallas.

dallas a dominant team? cough cough... 8th seed busted a nut in your eye and yall went crying back to momma in dallas!

dominance comes with rings and trophies... not with division les and wcf banners... remember the spurs have been down both those roads and some that dallas hasnt.

dallas aint ever gonna be ... theyll always be ty though.

Here's a thought: It's not the NBA championship. It's a second round series. If the Spurs win they are halfway there. The Suns act like it's the finals because it is for them, which is also why they don't mind cheating to win. This is a big game, but the city isn't going to start throwing all their money and effort at drumming up support for a team that can't get out of the second round two years in a row. Maybe the city is spoiled, and I haven't lived there since the team started winning les, but they have championship expectations, and the momentum typically builds after the second round.

I've noticed that the Spurs crowd isn't very loud and just doesn't give a . In Game 7 of the 2005 finals everybody expected the crowd to go berserk and people said they did, but I watched the game and it was probably like .1 decible higher than it usually is. Pretty pathetic. I can't wait for the Duncan era to be over and the Spurs go through a Golden State phase where every season is a fight to get over .500, then I guess the fans will cheer more or something, because sometimes it's sickening to hear the crowd dead silent in the 1Q or when the Spurs have a big lead and vice versa. I'm ing yelling my balls off everytime someone scores a point in the 1Q and I give thumbs up to ever Spur I see and a middle to every opposing player.
