That raw deal in the Mavs game had no effect on homecourt at that point because the Suns would have wrapped it up anyways
People will always want to talk about the effect of the suspensions in the Suns/Spurs and how the Suns got robbed and what not but what I hardly see get any mention is the fact that had Duncan not been inexcusably thrown out of that one Mavs game thanks to Joey Crawford, it could've been the Spurs with the HCA and that would've been huge had this gone 7.
The reason I bring this up is because everyone es of how if this went to 7, the Suns would have the slight advantage as its homecourt, but considering we got a pretty raw deal in that Mavs game that cost us homecourt in the second round we could've had HCA in game 7 just as easily if it wasn't for some BS much like the Suns had to endure as well.
But once again, like the "what if" situation as to what would have happened in game 5 had amare/diaw played there are no guarantees, and maybe the Spurs still wouldn't have had HCA had Duncan been allowed to finish the Mavs game, but my point is, for all the talk about the Suns being robbed, I we also got a degree of the shaft during a crucial stretch of the regular season.
Now, obviously playoff game >>>>> regular season game
but I'm just sick of hearing about how this should've gone to game 7.
The suns had all their opportunities to win game 6 and yet were on the cusp of a blowout.
happens.
on to the utah jazz
That raw deal in the Mavs game had no effect on homecourt at that point because the Suns would have wrapped it up anyways
uhh the suns dropped 2 more games the rest of the way with d'antoni playing his starters 40+ minutes
the suns didn't wrap up
Quite incorrect. Had the Spurs won their last three games they would have finished tied with Phoenix but ahead in the season series 2-1.
The Dallas loss was the first of three straight losses for the Spurs to end the season. So after the Dallas loss, Pop shut down the team and coasted into the playoffs.
Yep, i still remember that the day we lose to the Mavs, the Suns lost to the Rox soon afterward -CMIIW.
Actually, Nobody on the Suns played close to 40 minutes against the Clippers, and they lost by 4, and only Marion played 40 minutes against the Rockets in a 3 point loss. Oh, and both game were meaningless. I guarantee you the Suns win at least 1 had they mattered at all. If you think otherwise you are just idiots, and I cannot help you any further.
Bull . The suns losing game 1 wouldn't have been as bad as that really set them on the wrong track. The suns might've been better starting the series on the road. It worked well for the mavs.
it's not about how you start the series but how you end it.
the spurs won the series, so this is all moot, but if it went down to a game 7, trust me you'll want the HCA in your favor
and spider tx, EVERYONE in the league was questioning why d'antoni was playing his team so many minutes when the games were already meaningless.
You can't tell me they didn't try hard to win those games for the sake of pride.
Yes they tried for 3 quarters and a few minutes into the 4th, but against the Clippers, nobody had over 33 minutes, so they sure didn't try nearly as hard. They didn;t just roll over and die, but they didn't burn themselves for a meaningless win either.
Losing game 1 at home is what cost the mavs the series against the Warriors. It is not easy having your first game of the series be at home because of the pressure. Losing game 1 on the road isn't as bad though as proven by the mavs/spurs series of last year.
Suns were handed gm 4. Nobody talking about that.
It doesn't matter! Spurs still won the series!
while there is pressure on the home team to protect hca, I am not talking about having hca to start the series, i am talking about hca to end the series had this gone the distance
if you ask any team in the league would they rather have hca or start on the road every single player will ask to have hca
simple as that
Losing game 1 on the road is far more detrimental to a team than losing it on the road because it steals away home court.
no , but had this gone to game 7 you would want hca is what i'm saying
now, the series is over, the spurs won, but had this gone to 7, many could've dug up the crawford controversy
point of all of this:
happens, deal with it
The Crawford controversy would have never come up because without that ever happening, I guarantee you the Suns win at least one of those games if they had to. They lost by 3 and 4 when nobody played over 33 minutes aside from Marion at 40 one of the games.
I noticed that. Spurs were up by a bunch before the refs called a ticky-tack offensive foul or traveling violation every time the Spurs had the ball, systematically eroding the Spurs' lead. Suns didn't win that game. The ref's gave it to them, and that's what spured Horry's frustation, that he irrationally took out on Nash.
Must be great living in your world. Unfortunately in reality the suns definitely deserved to win that game. Horry's action was all because of poor sporting realizing they were gonna lose.
well not just that, before the Suns inbounded the ball, Raja pushed Horry from the back. Robert fell and then got up looking pissed at the no call.
Suns won game 4, fair and square.
Fact of the matter is, Spurs took two games on Phoenix's floor. Controversy or not, you can't let that happen and still act like you had a deserved to win a playoff series.
And it's funny how quickly Phoenix forgets that it had every chance to win Game 5.
They were down 3 with 30 seconds to go, slick. Explain how Horry thought the game was out of reach.
They might have beaten the Clippers, but Rockets were up by 13 on the Suns at the end of the third quarter. And the fact is that they didn't win the game, so the question remains. On the flip side, the Spurs were smart enough to win the series in six and shut up the doubters.
But amused proved another point with his post. Since you get this riled up about someone pointing out the Spurs getting screwed out of HCA, imagine if someone kept saying that you cheated because the NBA wouldn't let your opponent break the rules and get away with it.
Horry was feeling that the game was slipping away from him and in frustration decided to hammer Nash.
I didn't tell you to give your opinion about his feelings and try to embellish what he did, I told you to explain how the greatest clutch playoff performer in the last ten years would think that his team was out of it down 3 at home with 30 seconds to go.
I'm listening.
If he knew there was 30 seconds, than he wouldn't have fouled. I guess he was assuming the game was over and the last resort was to foul. He's just a bitter loser. Many players are though.
