welcome to dallas. you'll find that it isn't quite the soulless hole people in San Antonio make it out to be, but it's pretty damn close.
On Friday I'm leaving for Dallas to start a 10 week internship that I could accept into a whole year inernship that isn't a lot of money, but is super rewarding. I wouldn't bother posting a thread about it, but it's a pretty worth while cause, well at least I think it is.
I'll be working in a group for a non-profit called Project Transformation (http://www.projecttransformation.org) coordinating summer day camps for an inner city Methodist church. It sounds pretty awesome. Most of the kids come from "under served" communities and 97% live in poverty. At the end of the summer we're taking the middle school kids on a week long wilderness camp. Most of them haven't been outside of Dallas. From what I've heard the kids have the experience of their lifetime. Throughout this whole thing we act as role models and that whole shebang.
It'll be the first time I've been outside of San Antonio for more then maybe 3 weeks, and in Dallas nontheless. I think I'm going to wear silver and black...a lot. Except I may get shot.
Spare me the response of "thanks for getting out of San Antonio, ashbag, ash , etc." I was just keeping everyone updated on what I'm doing and maybe looking for some support once I get up there.

Wow. What a great experience for you!
I did a lot of work with inner city kids in L.A. It's rewarding, but hard at times.

You'll be fine as long as you stay out of Uptown on the weekends, and stay out of Addison at all times.

what's so bad about Addison? I have a friend that lives there but I've never been there myself.

It's not bad. It's just a place where a lot of the young, pretentious an pompous like to hang out. Sort of the OC type crowd, but not everywhere. I like Kobe's and hanging out drinking beers with friends at BJ's personally.
ohhh. well my friend that lives there is from California, so I guess that's why he loves it there (in Addison)! lol. he's not pompous at all though
