Editor and PublisherAbout one-third of the American adult population believes the Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally word for word, a new Gallup poll reveals. This percentage is only slightly lower than several decades ago.
Gallup reports that the majority of those "who don't believe that the Bible is literally true believe that it is the inspired word of God but that not everything it in should be taken literally." Finally, about one in five Americans believe the Bible is merely an ancient book of "fables, legends, history, and moral precepts recorded by man."
... Believe in the literal word of the Bible is strongest among those whose schooling stopped with high school and declines steadily with educational level, with only 20% of college graduates holding that view and 11% of those with an advanced degree.
I know that I am allowed contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. Lev. 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can anyone clarify? Why can't I own a few Canadians?

Note that the dumb s who believe in Bible textual literalism are predominantly HS grads (or less), ie, probably haven't even read the Bible themselves (or any other book). They are programmed by their preacher-man to think robotic, pre-packaged thoughts and parrot them back.
The more education you have, the less you believe Bible textual literalism.
Well, not that I'm a strict literalist, but a person who actually read the Bible, rather than just cherry-picking a line here and there, would know that verses in Hebrews abrogate the civil law of the old covenant.
So the 'word of god' comes with an expiration date. Got it.
Actually, while you are just trying to be a flippant smartass, because you don't really know what you are talking about and are in over your head, a Dispensationalist believes something very much along the lines of your statement.
