What's the Spurs record in series where they go up 2-0?
And BTW, before this we hadn't ever been up 2-0, or 2-1... against the Jazz. In fact we'd never been 2 anything in the win column with the Jazz.
1) 0-9
2) 0-11
3) 7-0
4) Injured
5) Injured
That is:
1) The Spurs record all-time in the playoffs in Salt Lake City.
2) The Spurs record in their last 11 attempts in getting the split when leading a series 2-0 after two games at home.
3) The Jazz record at home during these playoffs.
4) The status of Michael Finley's back. Finley ranks first on the Spurs in +/- in the playoffs.
5) That status of Oberto's wrist. Results of the x-rays haven't been made public yet. Oberto is third on the Spurs in +/- in the playoffs.

Don't know. Maybe you can wish death on timvp so he can go ask God to see if He knows.
I'm not sure exactly, but other than Memphis*, the past few years every time we've gone up 2-0 at home, it always ends up 2-2. We suck at getting the split with a 2 game lead.
That doesn't work...I tried it a couple of times on AJ. Best I could do was get him to Denver.
We've only lost 1 series we were up 2-0 in the last 20 something years...Lakers in 04.
Don't blame me...I wished for Hedo to be injured![]()
And with all of that, the Jazz is only favored to win by 1.5 points at most sportsbooks.
Well, chalk it up to boredom and insomnia, but here's a list I compiled after a little bit of Basketball-Reference digging. This is for the Tim Duncan era only. I don't have time to go back all the way to '73. These are all series we have had a 2-0 lead in, including series we got splits in and series we didn't.
1999:
Spurs vs Lakers, Spurs sweep
Spurs vs Trail Blazers, Spurs sweep
Spurs vs NY Knicks, Spurs win Games 4 and 5 at NY, win series 4-1
2001:
Spurs vs Timberwolves, Spurs win Game 4 at Minnesota, win series 3-1
Spurs vs Mavericks, Spurs win Game 3 at Dallas, win series 4-1
2003:
Spurs vs LA Lakers, Spurs lose Game 3 and 4 at LA, win series 4-2 (Game 6 at LA)
2004:
Spurs vs Grizzlies* - Spurs sweep
Spurs vs LA Lakers, Spurs lose Games 3, 4, 5** and 6, lose series 2-4.
2005:
Spurs vs Super Sonics, Spurs lose Games 3 and 4, win series 4-2 (Game 6 at SEA)
Spurs vs Pistons, Spurs lose Games 3 and 4, win series 4-3
2006:
Spurs vs Kings, Spurs lose Games 3 and 4, win series 4-2 (Game 6 at SAC)
2007:
Spurs vs Jazz, Spurs lose Game 3...
*- It's the Grizzlies
**- .4

So, in the Duncan era we're 10-1 in a series we have a 2-0 lead in, 4-1 in a series that ends up 2-2 when the Spurs go up 2-0 at home. And for some reason, the Spurs struggle to win Games 3 and 4 on the road with a 2 game lead, but seem to be fine with eliminating teams on the road in the pivotal sixth game. Hmm.
Let the excuses begin...
Whiny es...
I don't see what there is to make excuses about. The stats show you, since 1999 we've only lost one series we were up 2-0 in.
It was meant to the starter of this thread.
How's Cleveland doing in the ECF, by the way?
Oh, yeah......
Just like your es are doing..
We take care of bussiness at home (just like your es)
At least we didn't get blown out
No, your "savior" or "prodigal son" just can't seem to finish games when it matters.
Quit freaking out... we're not going to lose the series b/c of one blowout.
I don't think anyone has said they think the Spurs are going to lose the series.
Guys, how in the world can you endure games like these? Its so emotionally draining for serious Spurs fans (and Im not even a hardcore Spurs fan yet)
I kinda feel like a disemboweled fighting rooster, still dead game and willing to fight, but its body is too shredded up to continue fighting anymore.
Its an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. I cant imagine how bad the 90s Spurs fans must have felt after those gruelling Jazz and Rockets series.
It's Beno time!
We missed a great opportunity to kill the Jazz tonite.
And serious injuries to Finley and Oberto will spell doom for our championship hopes.
So...when the Spurs went up 2-0, the only series they lost is the one with .4...which was bull , so they will win this series, too...
Spurs in 5.![]()
What's there not to love about the way we closed out the Suns and dominated the Jazz in the first 2 games? I really thought we had turned a corner in this championship run, and would continue to develop a mighty wave of momentum.
To get blown out is like this is surprising and, well, it, pretty disappointing!
2005 NBA Finals...'nuff said...
I think we'll be just fine. I've said since the beginning of the series, if the Jazz are going to win a game it'll be game 3. Granted, I didn't like getting blown out like that...but we usually bounce back tremendously after an embarrassing loss. The game was handed to the Jazz on a silver platter, we couldn't keep Duncan on the court with all the BS fouls getting called. And for that matter, there were BS calls on both sides I don't know what the was going on there. But I do know this, we got blown out in Phoenix didn't we? and what happened in that series? It's all good, we got this.
Injuries are the only part of this analysis that is valid. Anything else is more like supers ion or the belief that if a flipped coin comes up heads ten times in a row that the odds are better than 50-50 that the next flip will show tails.
Otherwise, we could simply mail in a surrender do ent and forget about playing the games. In reality, each game has its own dynamic and can be won or lost via a myriad of 'plays' and 'breaks' and errors. Generally in a 7game series the team with the best players win. Period.
