Jack knew Kate in another life, brother. He wasn't talking about the "island." He was talking about how much he enjoyed vacationing in Fiji, and wanted to go back there. He's whacked out on drugs, so he doesn't realize he can just fly to Fiji rather than hoping the plane crashes.

The guy who picked up the phone was Ernest Borgnine from Airwolf. Airwolf is going to pick up Claire and Aaron, and then use its machine guns to kill Ben.
