No other baskeball team has more fans outside the US than the Spurs. People like Lebron and the flashy dunky guys are looked upon like part of the drama happening currently in our country and they disregard them as true stars. Jordan was different in every aspect and he is still praised outside the US as happened with Bird and Magic.

The Spurs have done quite well under the radar.
    Let LeBron have the spotlight.
We have a championship to win.

Alot of places in the world play basketball just like they play soccer, flopping and falling all over the place for fouls. These players and their fans are to blame for the NBA becoming a "flop fest", which although is a part of basketball, was never as large of a part as it was in the 90's and previous decades where great players had to go up against tougher and more physical teams. Not all of the dunkers in our league right now are great, they aren't the same as the guys we had in the 90's when America was dominating the world basketball scene in world compe ion through talent and skill. But let's not make any mistake about it, talent-wise the best players in the world come from the USA. Furthermore, anybody who disregards Lebron James as less than a true star is in denial, this guy can win by putting up big numbers or by creating opprotunities for assists, James is a prime example of talent and skill.

Thats why you see more flopping because basketball players are lazy and don't want to play defense, they would rather take the easy way out.
No one is denying Lebron James is a true star but he does not have the international appeal the Spurs have. Not yet maybe.

that might have been true in 1987. welcome to the 21st century, where the USA has been outplayed by other countries again and again in international compe ions.

some time ago I would have said bull to this, but seriously now, it does seem as if mainstream america has completely lost its love for team basketball. Right now, its all about creating a superstar, period. Lets face it, people like the Cavs more than they do our Spurs, and thats only because LeBron is there. Take LeBron out of there and you don't even have a team, just a bunch of mediocre place fillers. I mean, sure, you can take Duncan out of the Spurs and we'd be lucky to make the playoffs but at least we'd be a team.

It's still true. For individual talent, America still rules the roost. But it's a team game, which is why we keep getting waxed on the international stage.

The "America" that's behind the Cavs is the "America" that does what it's told, buys what it's sold, and tunes in to the Finals not even knowing the names of most of the players on the floor. That "America" probably thinks James ran up 30+ points in game 6, and would give you a blank stare if you asked what they thought of Daniel Gibson's performance or Mike Brown's defensive schemes.

I agree, and this is what I hate. Fans everywhere, on all teams, and also in the media, will have you believe that the Cavs are all about Lebron. Now, don't get me wrong, Lebron is an amazing talent and in these playoffs has developed into the best in the NBA, however even the best player could not have gotten to this point without his teammates. The Cavs don't have guys on their team outside of Lebron who can do it all the way that SA and Detroit can, however each guy out there has a specific set of skills, and he can do those skills as well as anybody in the league. When Cleveland's supporting guys play within their skill sets and play unselfish, this is an extremely tough team to beat.

Case in point, what other star in this league would have passed up the scoring opprotunity in order to set up Marshall's 3-pt attempt in Game 1 vs. the Pistons? That time it didn't fall, but it set the tone for the series, it instilled confidence in the team, and it was a prime display of why playing unselfish basketball is so vital to teams winning championships in this league.

No doubt you got it all wrong. When was the last time US basketball won anything outside the US?. With lebron , AI, sharmaine, etc, etc, etc, etc.

The spurs is the true all-american team. It brings a style of play from back in the day in the 60s and 70s, with passes, jumpshots, etc. The US was virtually unbeatable back in the day. They would rip teams outside the US for 30+ points each game. Just go to any site with info about Olympics, etc and see it for yourself. And they were only college students!!!!
