Brownie Points: Cavs’ win makes Suns’ loss hurt more
Jerry Brown, Tribune Columnist
For Suns fans who felt an NBA championship was stolen away by David Stern, the basketball gods who despise their team, or, OK, OK, maybe the San Antonio Spurs, the nightmare just got worse.
Cleveland won the Eastern Conference. Oh swell.
The Suns swept the Cavaliers this season. They’ve won eight of the last 10 meetings, and led in the other two games by at least 17 points. Their game plan — let LeBron James score his 40 or so points, run Zydrunas Ilgauskas into the hardwood and exploit matchup advantages all over the floor — has a proven track record.
By the way, SI.com reports that last week in Orlando NBA owners, at the request of the Suns, took a look at the rule that levies an automatic suspension to players for leaving the bench.
No changes were recommended.

If those damned old Spurs would just disappear, there are so many teams that could win a le.......
And can you blame them for crying? I mean, after all the Spurs already have 3. How many do they want?
bbbbbut they are so young and explosive offensively!![]()
I could give a crap what they feel about this series. If they wanted to beat the Spurs, they could have not flopped over in Game 6. But they rolled like dogs.
Isnt it funny the Suns have left for the season, I havent seen many of them post. I wonder if they had some mass suicide since the league" has it in for them" hahaha.
I still think that you cannot reward the team that started the conflict, and that team was the Spurs. This is why basketball is losing respect and why everybody hates Tim Duncan and the Spurs. Rinky dink judgements handed down like that threatens the integrity of the game, if you can't defend your teammate after the opposing team is taking cheap shots on him than for the safety of the players they ought to just stop playing, seeing as how they can no longer guarantee that some scrub player isn't just going to cold- you right in the face to start a fight and get opposing players suspended.
you are way late in the argument. this has been discussed over and over and over. get over it.
end of the matter is the suns dumbass players violated the rule and got suspended for being stupid. end of story.
Did we somehow revert to three weeks ago
So instead let both team brawl it out? So it can look like one of those baseball pile ups. Or they can get the fans out there to and we can get a repeat of the Artest incident. Rules are rules and the other Suns players who were on the bench seemed to be aware of that. Just cause your a key player on your team doesn't mean your going to be treated differently for doing what you thought was right. Horry may have started it but its the ref and the leagues job to finish it. We could and did beat you without him anyways.
The team that started the conflict was punished. Horry fouled Nash, no question, but then he walked away towards where the play was supposed to occur and to his bench. Nash flopped and Raja Bell came running at Horry. Bell/Nash are really the people who turned it from a hard foul into a conflict, so there you go.
Suns stupidity further hurts them. Amare and Boris wouldn't have left the bench if Nash had just gotten back up or if Raja hadn't run over to get in Horry's face.
Additionally, Nash was never in physical danger from that body check. And it is the referees job to enforce the rules, not the bench of one team or the other. And if you'd like to talk further about rinky-dink judgements (that the Spurs are not responsible for and don't make) then let's talk about Horry's 2 game make up suspensions for less than multiple other fouls in the playoffs that didn't even get flagrant 2 calls, let alone 2 game suspensions.
Now look:
Why do people look at it that way? The simple fact of the matter is that the entire bench -2 people knew the rule. They were told the rule before the season, they were told the rule again before the playoffs, and yet despite all that, those 2 guys got past all the coaches, the training staff who know to kkeep theri staff in the bench area, to MAKE THEMSELVES GET CAUGHT.I still think that you cannot reward the team that started the conflict,
Now onto the Spurs beating the Cavs.
The funny part is how all of them think they definitely would win the championship. Denver woulda won it all. Phoenix woulda won it all. Utah woulda won it all. Dallas...well Doll-ass is different. But you get what I mean. No matter what, only one of the sure-fire championship winners could have even reached the finals.
Most of these fans, with the exception of a few, are so close minded and clueless about everything that you saying this will just get them to always react the way they have. Blaming even the conflict on the Suns, when it was really the little es on the Spurs that couldn't handle something not going their way again, and then beating on a player when the game was over. The Spurs are the biggest whiny es in the NBA, as it shows EACH and EVERY time they get a foul called on them. They win, yes, I'll give them that, but they also bithc better than any team in basketball.
The Suns made that mistake when Amare and Diaw left the bench, but for any of these morons to blame anyone but the Horry for starting things is just being foolish.
So, being suspended two games was not punishment enough?
Why should Duncan be punished for Horry's foul?
And, as has been said a million times before, if stupis ass Bell didn't try to start with Bowen, there would be no suspensions.
So, blame Horry. Blame Bell. Blame Amare and Diaw. But don't blame the Spurs, and don't blame the league. It's not their fault the Suns over-reacted to Horry.
You all conveniently forget about little Bowen and his cheapshots, but of course you all would forget about that, because you want to blame everyone else and think the Spurs do no wrong. But saying the altercation was caused by anyone but someone on the Spurs is just idiotic, the Spurs were starting so much all series that anyone, and I mean ANYONE in that situation would react like that.
I see where you guys find the humor in Suns fans now.
It's been like 3 weeks, maybe a month now. Hasn't it?
Wow.
I don't ever start it, but when these close minded fools still say the same dumb , I will back it up. Unfortunately, your team just never had a chance, and was only there thanks to the Warriors, so you just have to realize they were beat, and not cheapshoted at all.
weak smack forum
And so many of you cannot muster up a response wrothwhile.
I remember back when Shaq and Kobe used to whip the Spurs' asses. Your posts resemble what Spurs (and Kings) fans used to say about the Lakers back in the day.
In other words, you are our . We own you. You will whine and cry about the Spurs until kingdom come.
Well, at least you can take solace in knowing that your best player, the one that makes your team tick, is only 22, and your team has a bright f....
Oh wait, that's Cleveland.
The Suns' window is closing. No les in your lifetime. Eat it, .
You will be eating it soon enough, but course, when that time comes, you will be nowhere to be found, so enjoy the asterisk on 2 of your 4 les, thats the reason your team cannot get any national respect. You will see les very very soon from the Suns, let's see if you are man enough to eat crow then.
