Being From Akron, OH and having went to St.. Vincent St. Marys...(a few years before lebron). From a neutral perspective, if there is one, all of my fellow colleagues down here who are huge tim duncan fans (and friends of) and San Antonio fans, think this is going to be a monster series and that the Cavs present some matchup probelms for the spurs. Its pretty unanamous down here that the series is going to go 7.

Cavs can make this an ugly series and make the Spurs do things they don't want to do offensively. The Spurs can do the same, however in an ugly series I like the Cavs because of Lebron's leadership and ability to improvise and score.

I look for the Spurs to win in 2. The Cavs will forfeit after they take back-to-back ass-poundings.

All I am hearing is the overconfidence of the Spurs shining through just like it did with the Pistons. You guys will be the first ones to eat your words, Cavs will make this an ugly series like I said and Lebron will take over. Cleveland is playing better defense than the Spurs are right now, they have a coach who knows the in's and out's of your playbook, they have Lebron to carry the load offensively. Cavs in 5, we're gonna shock the world!

BW you're right. We are overconfident despite the several comments by players that they recognize the WCF win was great, but they had work ahead. We are overconfident because we have been here before, and been told we're overconfident. We have no idea what it takes to win, we're to old, slow, boring, dirty to overcome the Nuggets, let alone the Suns, and don't even think about going up against the Jazz who beat GS who beat the almighty _allas.

We're scrubs, America hates us, Virgin Island people doubt us, we're es, we suck, is there anything else we're forgetting? Except the fact that we've heard this for the last 10 years and it hasn't made a difference yet.

    Good luck, you'll need it.

Detroit wouldn't beat Cleveland regardless, they lost their winning edge after their championship run and they turn on their coach the first chance they get. They're whiners.

San Antonio doesn't scare me nearly as much as Detroit did as a Cavs fan, San Antonio doesn't have the defensive presence the same way Detroit did. Floppers like Ginobli don't scare anybody the way that guys like Prince and Wallace can with their ability to block shots. Duncan obviously is probably the biggest presence in the league in the paint, however he is only one guy and Lebron will take him to school one on one when he makes his move to the basket. The only reason Detroit had any success defending Lebron at all was because they attacked him with numbers.

Detroit had some height across the board to combat Cleveland's size with, San Antonio doesn't have anything close to that. It doesn't matter what all these "experts" are saying, they just don't want to be the guy who steps out on a limb and picks the Cavs (San Antonio is the safe pick). It's matchups that make ballgames and Cleveland matches up much better against San Antonio than they do against Detroit, plain and simple. Cavs will control this series.

Why do Cavs fans feel like they have to come in here to say this "Cavs will win" bull ? To the original poster: What kind of match up problems do the Spurs face, other than the LBJ one? Just give me an answer, I need a laugh.

You make it seem as if the team that has been to the Finals in three of the last five years (with the other two years being .4 and Game 7 OT) has no leadership or the ability to improvise.

I respect the fact that you are a fan of your team, you are excited that they are in the Finals, and feel that they legitimately have a chance to win. However, within the last year LBJ has been accused of coasting and not wanting the big game based on his play at times on the court. The Spurs have been the best team in the NBA for the last 5 years and are the poster children for "winning ugly". You are doing a disservice to the collective basketball intelligence to assume that a one year hot playoff run for LBJ equates to leadership and improvisation that completely and definitively trumps the combined leadership of the Spurs' Big Three.

Only because of a dumb foul in a Game 7 in the WCSF and the worst choke job in Finals history.

Let's all be intellectually honest and admit that Miami did not so much win that series as much as Dallas choked it away.

The 04 and 05 Piston teams were the only legitimate powers to come out of the East this decade.

Lots of casual fans showing up these days now that one of the studs from the NBA marketing stable made it to the Big Dance...

    Coincidence? I think not.

    yes.........with two all-stars that includes a legend-to-be.
i could go back and forth with, but just hold on to that eastern conference trophy 'cause that's the only thing you'll be getting this year.

Nothing that hasn't already been debated in length. It doesn't matter that much until gametime now, but all of these games are going to be very close.
I don't see your perimter players slashing to the paint like usual, They'll put lebron on ginobli or parker (probably parker in the second half) and just shut him out of any kind of drives completely....Duncan is not a MEGA scorer...and won't be against us, at least not as a scoring average for the series. All these games will be mid 80's to early 90's.
Peace from the island, too bad working til five, beach is looking sweeeet.
