I dont think so. I think it'll come down to Tim Duncan once more. Tony would be one to get it though if any other Spur was to get it.

I've got a funny feeling that Tony is going to try and make a statement in this series. I honestly believe that he wants that Finals MVP. Tony is more image concious than the rest of the big three. He'd be the typical pain in the ass kid on any other team but he's had to keep it in check on Pop's team. He's got the Hollywood wife, the championship rings, the music career but now I think he wants the recognition of being one of the elite point guards in the league (IE:Steve Nash).

Personally I think he'll go off and have an amazing series and deserve the Finals MVP if the Spurs win.

    But Duncan will get it.

I put my vmoney on Manu to win. The spark he will provide in this series off the bench because nobody on CLE can guard him will be what everyone is talking about in the end. He should have gotten it in 05.

If TP averages 25.9 pts, 10 assists and plays great D while hitting 2 winning shots in Cleveland, including the championship clincher.....then yes he will win the MVP.

If they didn't give it to Manu in 2005 when he was certainly the natural MVP I dont think they will give it to Parker.

I think is he does perform like an MVP its going to have to be an amazing performance at that. I mean look at Manu in 2005. The man played O U T O F H I S M I N D!! and yet Duncan was still the MVP, and deservedly so. Manu made a very good case for himself, but Duncan is so fundamental to this team, so intrinsic to what we do that I'm afraid it will be near impossible for TP or Manu to get it while Duncan is still in his prime.

I bet my vbookie money on Parker for MVP because the Cavs have nobody that can cover him. He won't be worked on defense and he's not injured. He's going to go nuts.

I did the same thing. He's got a really good matchup to go crazy on.

I think Tony is going to have some huge games too. At least on the scoring end and the defensive end. Now if somewhere along the line he manages to dish out 10 or 12 assists every game, I think he could certainly be in the running for Finals MVP.

But, there are only two reason I really see for Tim not to get it again, since he is so fundamental to the success of this team.

    1. He has a below par series.

    2. They give it to Lebron as the consolation prize. Of course if they do, they will need to engrave it with an " * ", as a reminder that it was a consolation trophy.

Manu played out of his mind for stretches of the 2005 Finals, but based on overall performance Duncan was the more consistent performer. Averaged 20 and 14 along with 2 bpg.

That's why he has to be the favorite. Parker and Manu are both capable of going for 12 straight points at any given time but Duncan will still have the overall numbers in the end... not to mention that he's the key component of the defense.

I think Parker or Manu would have to average 25+ to contend for the MVP. I think each has an outside chance, but frankly I'm rooting for Tim Duncan on behalf of his legacy.

Although I did put my VB money on Parker because the Duncan payout wasn't worth it.

Seriously now, with the way Duncan is playing does anyone really believe TP even has a chance? The problem with this scenario is in order for TP to get it, Duncan would have to play well below his playoff average up to now, and if this happens the Spurs could very well lose these finals. That is unless TP goes nuts and starts going 30 and 10 for the rest of the playoffs. I'm just saying its a very slim possibility.

Look at the guards Parker has faced so far: AI, Nash, Barbosa, Williams. Just by not having the critical defensive assignment he has a chance to go for 30 and 10. Smart money is always on Duncan, but it was definitely worth the vBookie bet.
