whataburger.
Just got a pair of tickets to tomorrow night's game, so a buddy of mine and I are going to drive down to SA tomorrow afternoon. Anyone have a good suggestion for a pre-game meal? It's gotta be local - I'm leaning towards badass burgers, TexMex, or chicken fried steak/soulfood.
The first two places I can think of are Chris Madrid's and Tomatillos.
Anybody have other recommendations?
whataburger.
Lulu's.
On Main Street near downtown.
whataburger is a great place to eat before a game if you don't want to spend money buying food inside that is.
I can go to Whataburger any time I want here in Austin.
Special Event = Special Meal.
I heard there's a restaurant in the San Antonio tower in downtown. try it.
How early you going to be in town? Chris Madrid's if you are feeling like a burger. But they'll be packed so watch out for that.
There is nothing near the Stadium. Downtown would be closest, but the parking and what not takes time. Just walk the riverwalk and go into the place that looks the most appealing to you.
there's a subway near the stadium its inside a gas station.
He would then get trapped amd miss the game!!!

At theTerrace Club Restaurant in the arena- although we are probably booked.![]()
Burgers: Chris Madrid's by a mile. Their cheddar cheezy is easily the best burger I've had in my life.
Mexican: Not sure there. My favorite place from back in the day when I lived in SA is closed after the owner died.
CFS: Tip Top on Fredricksburg near West Ave. is amazing. Way better than Goodtime Charlie's IMO.
For some reason I love Longhorn Cafe burgers. Those things are good. There is one on the Southeast side of town and the arena is on the East side.
I hate that I've still never been to Tip Top. I have got to go this summer.
Depends on how much bread you want to spend..
Silo
La Margarita (in La Villita)
Josephine Street Cafe
Tomatillos
La Fonda

Little Italy
Champs in Huebner Oaks
Chris Madrids
I finally ate at La Fonda on Main a few weeks back and it was great.

So where did Mark in Austin end up eating?
let me know when you plan on going, I have never been there either, maybe we can go on a date?
Tip Top is great, but you gotta get there right when they open, the lunch and dinner rush is insane and its a tiny place. But well worth any wait, imho.
