Fan for: 25 years
Age: 32
From: Victoria, TX - grew up in SA. I am forever a San Antonian.
Thoughts: When I started watching Spurs games at the age of seven, I couldn't figure out why the Lakers were always better than us. We had Gervin, Mike Mitc , and Artis Gilmore - that's about as good as Kareem, Magic, and Jamaal Wilkes, right? Well, roughly so, but the Lakers depth was well beyond ours, and they had greater stability in the organization, better coaching, and so on. It frustrated me, as I got older and actually realized all of that, to see that the Spurs organization was wasting the career of the great David Robinson. It was similar to what Kevin Garnett is going through now, only with less stability if that's possible. Fortunately, Gregg Popovich installed a new regime in this city and the immortal Tim Duncan carried it out to the tune of (almost) four les and counting. Now, there's some confused seven year old Laker fan wondering why Kobe, Odom, and Phil can't beat the Spurs. I think of that kid now, and it just warms my heart and puts a smile on my face to say " him. He's a Laker fan."
Thanks: To Iceman for putting SA on the basketball map. To David for keeping it there. To Tim for lots of banners and trophies. To Pop for teaching us all about pounding that rock. To Peter Holt for staying out of his way and cutting the checks. To every other player who donned the Silver and Black for putting it on the line for San Antonio. To the Lakers, for 1) putting up a measuring stick when I was seven 2) for playing in the Forum so we could shut it down in 1999 and 3) for winning a three-peat so that we be the team to stop it. To fans like Kori Ellis, for giving the rest of us a place to get together and talk about all of this.

). I know the winning has to end sometime, but I'll be happy as a long as this team continues to focus on playing ball the right way and treating the players and fans the way they deserve to be treated.
