It's a remake of The Omega Man..which is a remake of the Last Man on Earth.
The concept is an awesome one, which is probably why all the movies based on this story have been good ones...but it's going to be tough to top the pure classic seventiesism of the OmegaMan.
All three are adaptations of a '50s era book, not "remakes".
And yes, the book was better. Even though it sucked.

WTF? I don't get what its about? I mean I know the point of the movie is to surprise you with the reason why he is alone... but... it seems like it would be a very boring movie...
probably wait to catch it on DVD after a philly or two personally.

i like the story, and it looks great. nice twist on things...
They took a great Matheson story and ed it up again. Way to go, Hollywood.
at least they haven't ed his stories as repeatedly as they have pkd's.

The Omega Man is a freaking awesome movie!!
Blade Runner is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, at least in the Top Ten.
Apparently they are not vampires they are mutants they grow talons, are super fast and strong, can leap buildings in a single bound and their bodies transform shape. and rumor has it that there will be a scene with Will Smith running away from a HUGE amount of mutants down times square
Check out the story its pretty good and will answer all your questions. Its short to at only 160 pages. I read it years ago and Omega Man didn't come close to it. Though I'm looking forward to this adaptation I'm just hoping they dont jack it up.
