I'm thinking about it...281 and 1604.
Has anyone rushed an Academy after the Spurs have closed out a championship game to get championship t-shirts???? What was your experience? Do you need to go before the final buzzer sounds? Or is it not that bad?

People will be there at halftime if we are up.
I hate living in Dallas, sometimes. Fortunately I have someone hooking me up for a E/N tomorrow morning to go with my others. The last shirt or hat I got that was timely was my 62-20 hat from '95.![]()
In 2005, I went after Game 7 at about 11:30, or about an hour after the game ended. The line was all the way down the front of Academy, and going into the next store area, about 100 yards long, if not more. This was at 281&1604. I went back about 1 a.m. and was able to buy shirts then. Usually the smaller sizes sell out faster.
it's always a good time...horns honking, high fiving strangers, etc...
probably the one time people don't mind standing in a long ass line.
how about the newspapers? is there a big rush for them or does the Express News make tons?
Maybe JohnnyBlaze could help you out. But Im sure there are plenty of copies.
ok cause i'll be arriving tomorrow night and if we won tonight, i really wanted to get my hands on a copy to hang on my window for all mavs fans to see haha
If anyone can help a Spurs fan in California, I'd love to buy a copy of the Express News when they win.
PM me if you can pick up an extra copy. I've got Paypal and will gladly pay time and shipping.![]()
In '05, I went to Foleys about almost an hour and a half after the game and there were only about 30 people there. They opened the doors about 5 minutes after I got there.
Is any other place gonna have championship goods besides Academy?
I've always gone to Academy... WCF, Finals, whatever...... It's fun man, part of the tradition for me. The lines, right after the game are longer than you could imagine (at 1604/281 it's gonna go all the way down the side of academy, all the way down the side of kohls, and wrap around kohls... yea) but it's worth it, it's like a party in the parking lot anyway. If you wait about and hour and a half or so after the game (but then you wouldn't get to go downtown), you can walk right in, but don't wait too long because they'll close once there's nobody showin up anymore.
it's cool to be so experienced at this
Hahahah.... sweet.... I remember that hat, still got it somewhere probably
In 1999, my friend and I were one of the first 20 people in line at Foley's @ Ingram to get our shirts and we left his GF's apartment about five minutes after it was over, right after the speeches were finished.
It's a wait but lots of fun
Everybody's really REALLY happy
don't forget the compressed air horns!
the fireworks!
the brooms!
I have done this for the last two championships and in Austin when the Horns won the BCS le last year. It is insane but very fun.
That was one of the best nights of my life!!!
I have never been to a Spurs post championship celebration sadly.
Which academy will you guys be hitting up tonight? Mandy and i want to be where the spurstalkers are at.
281 1604![]()
Sometimes I really wish I lived in San Antonio.![]()
I don't have a single Spurs fan around me. (My family is incredibly supportive but the truth is they watch only for me. So they'll be happy for me but it's not the same as being with a bunch of fans.)
Have a blast where ever you go. Enjoy the party for the rest of us that can't be there!![]()
