great analogy. does that make the 2000-2002 laker "dynasty" hall & oates? and if it does, who is john oates?
...who would they be? My vote is they're The Band. Remember them?
Probably not. Best group of the late 60s/early 70s. String of hits ("The Weight," "Up on Cripple Creek", "The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down" etc.).
Just five solid musicians that played awesome, no-frills music at a time when everyone was looking for psychedelic guitar solos and crazy personalities.
As drummer Levon Helm said: "The rock star stuff never came up for us. The Band was never attacked by groupies before, during or after any show that we ever played."
Just like the Spurs---no hype, no frills, no nonsense. Just pure, unadulterated hoops.
(Hopefully the Duncan-Parker relationship won't break down into a Helm-Robbie Robertson feud....)

Yup...the Spurs are all business...they just get it done.![]()
yea, I remember the Band. Their album Music from Big Pink was awesome.
My favorite band, Quadro Nuevo.
This hugely talented quartet of virtuoso musicians play a variety of styles and has a highly individual style, with an old-world feel. They obviously dodn't have a huge following, but if you've heard them you'd realize that they're as good as it gets.
I think you pretty much nailed it. The Band didn't generate high sales, they didn't appeal to a wide audience, but those who appreciated them were passionate about them. And people in the business knew what they were about and wanted to play with them.
Fleetwood Mac.
The in-fighting, the short-term dominance, the oversaturation, the overratedness....
The Spurs would be a be-bop jazz band.
Old school, fundamentals, no modern hype, appealing only to the hard core aficionados.
Toto
The best "studio sharks" (do you say that in english?) united in the same band.
Eva has been compared to Yoko Ono. So that means the Spurs must be the . . . .
something like David Gates and Bread.
If the Spurs were a band they would be Run DMC, their game has changed the face of basketball and crossed new boundries. That is what Run DMC did in the Music industry.
Nah. Couldn't be. I like be-bop.
"Tears of Rage"
ABBA
Most people hate them, but their fans adore them.![]()
Jazz vocalist: Johnny Hartman.
Smooth, distinctive, brilliant...completely overlooked.
I remember & love "The Band" but.
My pick would be The Best Little Band in Texas .......ZZ Top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Percy Faith and his Orchestra
My bad ...
